The sailor sunk deep into the depths of the cold water. He closed his mouth tightly, trying to preserve any air he had left. But the violent shipwreck had knocked the wind out of him. Trails of blood from his wounds blossomed into the water around him.

His mind told him to swim. Swim up and to air. Swim up and live. But his body wouldn't cooperate. Just as he felt unconsciousness tugging at him, there was movement. The glimmer of bright colors through the dark of the water.

A single fish swam to him. It was beautiful; it glowed with an internal light. The fish looked directly into his eyes. He stared back, barely hanging on to consciousness.

And then suddenly a surge of energy went through him. His wounds closed, and his lungs were filled with air. The fish turned and swam off. And the sailor kicked up to the surface of the water.

Overview

Angelic Mandarin is a strong low mana (3) ranged attacker. The best ruleset is for him the Little League but can be a good fit in low mana games. Cause big health he can be placed in the last position. The gold foil version has bigger health by default.

Battle RulesetsDescription
Equal OpportunityAll Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
Close RangeRanged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.

Equal Opportunity info: Speed and HP is the trick here: higher speed will let you target the enemy's low HP monster first, opening the way for your slower monsters to deal damage to higher HP enemy monsters. Keep lower HP monsters in front. Monsters who have two attack types should always be preferred.

Close Range info: You can use high HP or high speed Ranged monsters at position 2 (or even at position 1 if it has Heal). Choose summoners that give a bonus to Ranged attack or to speed and then choose high damage Ranged attack monsters. Beware of the possibility that your opponent might pick Lir Deepswimmer as summoner or monsters with Return Fire. High HP and Heal are the way to go in this ruleset.

Lineup

I selected water because against Opportunity Taunt is a very good controller. So The Kraken was the main reason to select Kelya and her team :)

CardStrategy
Kelya Frendul - One of my highest level summoners and my favorite one. She is a good fit almost every ruleset except Unprotected and Reverse Speed. +1 armor and +1 speed is a good defensive support for the water team.
The Kraken - Monster of the game, he survived some rounds and let my team hunt the other monsters. There were some misses on him so it was a perfect choice. This monster is one of my favorites in high mana games.
Djinn Oshannus - The best price/value reward legendary card in the game. If you don't have it you must buy at least 1. Phase ability + Kelya is a perfect defensive combination. He is a big miss monster too.
Merdaali Guardian - Support of the Kraken. She help the Kraken to survive some more damage.
Angelic Mandarin - Monster of the week. I put him to fill the mana space and it was a good choice. It did some damage.
Halfling Alchemist - One the most special card in the game. Halving is very good ability in every game.
Phantom of the Abyss - Best backline position monster of all time. Can miss almost every melee and ranged attack. Very strong damage, the only weeknes is the magic against him.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My winning chance was around 40%, but my team did a great job. Kraken survived some rounds and my other monsters kill the most of the enemy in that time. After that the enemy has not enough power to defeat my team, so I could win easily. And the biggest thing in this victory that I win against a higher level team! Nice work my water monsters!

Do you like gold foil ANGELIC MANDARIN? Why or why not?

I am not played too much with him, but it is a good card. In low mana games or in Close Range ruleset he definitely can get some place in our team. The Golden version has better health which is always a big advantage.
