The small fort was impregnable. In fact, from recollection, Ursca couldn’t remember the last time it had even been attacked, which did beg the question as to why it was there. Apparently the Realm of Silence was nearby, tunnels dug beneath the ground by rat-like creatures, but he didn’t believe any of that, it was all just an excuse to keep them penned up in the uncomfortable old garrison.

A shout snatched his attention away from the mundane task of chopping firewood and he looked up to the wall where one of the guards was waving vigorously.

“Bowmen, we need bowmen up here now!” the man cried.

Ursca forgot what he was doing, dropping the axe and running to the wall, excitement at what was on the other side dispelling any hint of alarm or panic. When he reached the palisade and looked over, he was met with the strangest of sights. It appeared the forest had sprouted legs and was shambling towards them, led by a peculiarly dressed woman and a shuffling…was that some kind of mushroom? As they neared though he could see it wasn’t a woman at all, more like some sort of infected witch, and the other thing was white and rubbery looking with fiery hair, bright eyes and a white lattice work that blossomed out behind it.

Moss and rotten spores began to appear across the wood stockade, creeping up the wall, prompting Ursca to edge away. Some of the guards fired arrows at the approaching throng but they all turned in the air at the last moment, striking the white fungus creature at the front. None of it caused any damage though and the rotting horde continued, inexplicably on. He wanted to turn and run away but his limbs felt suddenly leaden, the energy sapped from his body. Then a guard screamed and Ursca looked along the wall. He watched in horror as the fungal spores reached the poor man, quickly absorbing the life from his body and turning him into a rotting husk within seconds.

Closing his eyes, Ursca dropped to the ground and began to sob.

Overview

Mycelic Slipspawn is a high mana (9) magic taunt card. The only magic taunt card in the game! Very good fit with Obsidian. We can control a little bit the enemy attacking targets. So it is a ruleset-dependent card, but sometimes a very good choice. Gold foil version starts with more health, what is the most important stats for taunt monsters.

Stats

AbilitiesLevelDescription
Taunt1All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to)
Forcefield4This Monster takes only 1 damage from attacks with power 5+
Slow8Reduces the Speed of all enemy Monsters

Market prices

We can see a little increase in price nowadays. I think because it is a very good card against the new Fury ability!

Gold Foil Mycelic Slpspawn is not a very card for rent out, today this is the stat for rent:

The Battle

Battle RulesetsDescription
Back to BasicMonsters lose all abilities.
EarthquakeNon-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.

Back to Basic info: Back row monsters are safe from enemy's Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity attacks. The ruleset places importance on Magic and Ranged attacks as melee attacks loose their ability to hit outside of the first position. Select monsters with high speed and choose a summoner that increases damage or defense against Magic or Ranged attacks. Lining up monsters in ascending order of their health is the way to go.

Earthquake info: Using monsters with Flying or Heal is the trick for this ruleset, but if you are unable to choose such monsters, use monsters that have high HP and high damage. Don't keep heal units up front. Shield has a very important role. Using Brighton Bloom as summoner can help in this ruleset. Keep monsters with Flying in last positions when Earthquake has done enough damage to both sides.

Lineup

It was a Back to the basic and Earthquake game so the best summoner for this type of game is Brighton Bloom. He could win this battle easily almost alone. Because it was a high mana game I selected high mana magic monsters for most of the positions and fill the rest places with 0 mana monsters.

CardStrategy
Brighton Bloom - King of the Earthquake games, especially if it is paired with Back to the Basic ruleset. So it was an easy choice.
Oaken Behemoth - A very good monster for Back to the Basic games, because it can attack two ways and the ruleset does not influence that.
Mycelic Slipspawn - Monster of the week. A good magic monster with high health in this type of the games, so she was got a spot in my winning team.
Kron the Undying - Everybody is afraid of him. High magic damage with high health, without health ability he is still a decent monster.
Void Dragon - Speed a good health monster for the remaining 5 mana. So I selected him for this.
Fungus Fiend - One of my gold foil filler card of the game.
Furious Chicken - The other gold foil filler card of the game.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

It was an easy 100% win chance game. I select a perfect team, but I make some mistakes. Maybe Chicken and Fiend in the first positions were even better, but it was not a game-changer problem.

Do you like gold Mycelic Slipspawn? Why or why not?

Like most of the gold cards, for rent out is not a good card. But I always love the Taunt monsters because we can control the battle a little bit. Unfortunately in this game, he was not able to show full potential, but a strong part of my 100% team.
