Like a Phoenix From the Ashes... IN REVERSE! - Splinter Stats Season 64 Report Card

@sinistry

I never made it out of Diamond. I even bolstered my collection with a max level Chaos Agent, which is probably one of my favorite cards now, as well as a couple of the level 0 cards (death and life), which I haven't gotten much use of yet, but have no doubt I will.

I don't know what to say here. Was it the holidays? I did have a couple of days early in the season I couldn't get the time and focus I need to climb the ranks. Or, is this a continuing thread in the ever-more pressing narrative that I'm aging out? Well, Expletive deleted YOU for even thinking it. ;P

As if I needed the turn of the blade, Splinterlands delivered, with three legendary cards this season... all Djinn Bilkja. Need I remind you that relationship has worked out?

Sigh... my rentals are down by about half this season, as well. I believe there may be a correlation with my performance. I took a lot of cards off the market that I hoped would be strong enough to get me back into Champion, but I think all I've done is clutter my playable collection such that I've diluted my ability to compete. I think I need to consider alternatives. I still haven't tried renting card to play, as I've felt like my collection was strong enough on it's own, but things are changing fast now. I guess I'm gonna have to expand my level of engagement.

SPS is still looking good, despite the price being in the toilet most of the season. No complaints. For realzies.

I'm also enjoying having the x2 voucher drop. That's been a nice supplement to the SPS I don't want to sell, anyway, much less at rock bottom prices.

So, I need to restructure my approach to this. What's is the lowest level common card one can take into battle in champion league and have a realistic chance of competing? Is it 7? 8? Can a 6 pull it off? I doubt it. 7+ maybe. Epics? I think I at least 4, but I'm not sure that's strong enough. Obviously, there will be exceptions, but I think I may just throw everything that isn't maxed out or within a level or two away up for rent and then fill in as needed with rentals and see how that works out. What is everyone's experience with renting these days? I used to see a lot of people in chat complaining about early terminations, and the like. Has that been resolved? Is it worth it or just another layer of hassle to claw out disappointing results at this level?

Finally, for those who are tracking, this is the worst season I've had since I quit working to do this. My income this season is down by half, which would have been a much bigger hit, had I not liquidated a few assets, just in time before the crash, so I'm lucky enough to be good or good enough to be lucky... not really sure which, but I get to live to fight another day!
