My exams are over YAY!

Hello guys, I finally finished all my exams and I'm back for good this time. It looks like I'll be participating in another activity as well this month which is conducted by my friends from the Artpark group of noisecash. Splinterlands Art Contest Week 214

So what's gonna be my next character design right? Well, I was also thinking the same thing after my PS-1 entry. So far I made a superhero card, an alien card and now we are gonna travel to the past and bring back a warrior from ancient India.

I was looking at my creations I made this year and all of them were either heavily inspired from anime or from movies. I wanted to change that this time you know so the first thing I did was select a weapon of choice and then created the character design from there itself. I chose Gada, a mighty weapon built and used by the strongest warriors in history to crush their enemies. It's a very heavy weapon so the impact will be high but there is a sacrifice in speed. Regardless only an experienced fighter or a fool will fight someone with a Gada.

Soorya - Protector Of Golden Mountains

Character information

Soorya, an ancient warrior born and bred to protect the secrets of the ancient golden mountains. Legend says that there are hidden treasures, ancient weapons of mass destruction, and even scrolls that contain the secrets to immortality inside these mountains. There was a time when the residents of the golden mountains were living in harmony with the people and educated them with their ancient knowledge but they shut themselves out from the world as they realised how greedy and selfish humans are as they saw their sacred knowledge being used to destroy mankind for personal gains. So the monks of the golden mountain created a warrior for protecting them from the world as they know that one day humans will come back. People who went there are still missing to this day. Soorya's wrath will fall upon anyone who disrupts the harmony of their people and he will be waiting, watching from the top with his mighty Gada to defend the sacred land at any cost.

I changed the pants design on the lineart. I couldn't get any proper references to draw folds. The one above is drawn based on my imagination and it's not really done well so I ditched it and moved to a simpler design.

After painting this character in gold and brown armor I realised that a background with brown colour will suit him well. I also painted some Golden mountains behind his back to follow the story I wrote above. As usual, the background was the hardest part xd. I made another one with a purple background with floating mountains but it doesn't really suit the character well so here we are with a new one made specifically for his colour tone and story.

I have been using Pinterest a lot these days and it's not for pose reference anymore. Some of the artists share a huge collection of useful tutorials there and I stumbled on one which shows how a person can blend a character well into the background. It's very simple, just pick the background color and create a layer on top of the character we painted. Then change the blending mode to overlay and opacity to 25% and paint the background colour that we picked on that layer. You will notice that the character blends well with the background. Opacity control is up to you as everyone has a personal preference.

This will be minted soon if everything goes well. I'm also glad to share with you guys that I have been verified on the hive nft showroom. I haven't configured or personalized my page yet. I'm really having a hard time doing it on phone so I'll think about once I complete my page. That's all for today folks and I'll see you next week with a new blog.

Yay! Nice to see you back. It's fun to draw when you don't have other things to think about anymore. I'm glad that your exams are over. Congrats on your verification. This drawing deserves minting indeed. I didn't know that India had such heavy weapon. If this is an anime, the weapon will definitely suit a brute warrior regardless of body frame coz it's very heavy. I can imagine that only those with superhuman strength can fight someone with that weapon. It's true that background is always a struggle but the golden colors went well. When is the deadline of submission for this splinterlands contest?

Thanks Kris and yeah India has lots of cool weapons. Just google it and you will see it hehe. I will be using more Indian-made weapons on my future drawings as well because even I didn't know some of them existed until last week haha.

Don't worry about the deadline. Just post it with their tags after you finish your drawing (See the tags I used in this blog). I believe the exact time for submission is at sunday night (1am I think) xd. That's why I told you to not worry about all that. You can post anytime you want and even if the contest number is wrong they will still check it hehe. Make sure you read all the rules from the compilation post I gave you. It pretty much covers everything.
