One last chance for victory, meet Tinderlock

avatar

Splinterlands has a wide variety of abilities to use in battles and in this post I'll talk about one in particular that in my opinion can be one of your best allies to achieve victory. The ability I'm going to talk about is Last Stand and I'll use the Tinderlock card as an example.

As I will be using the Tinderlock card as the main highlight for the Last Stand ability, I will also explain about the card and what uses it will have in battle in addition to this ability.

Who is Tinderlock?

Tinderlock is a rare card from the Riftwatchers edition that belongs to the fire deck. Maybe it's not very common for you to find it in battles, but believe me it's very useful and in addition to the Last Stand ability, it also has others that will help you a lot.

Since it's a Riftwatchers edition card then it means you can use it in the modern format and in the Wild format. To access the card you have 3 options: buy it on the marketplace, rent it on the marketplace or buy riftwatchers packs to try your luck.

To rent the card it will vary a lot from the level where you will get it and the availability, but if the option is to buy then currently you can buy Tinderlock for $0.66/BCX.

If your choice is to buy riftwatchers packs then each pack will cost 5$ in SPS + 1 Voucher and each pack guarantees you at least one rare card or higher so the chances of getting the Tinderlock are not low.

You can also choose to buy the packs from Hive Engine for a lower price but these packs will not be eligible for Riftwatchers airdrops.

Stats and Abilities

Now let's get to the main part of the card, which is knowing what uses it will have in battles.

The image above shows an overview of the card and you can find it by going to the Stats option after clicking on the card in the marketplace or in your collection.

Tinderlock's attack type is ranged and these cards have a disadvantage which is not being able to attack in first position, but Tinderlock won't have that problem because he has the ability Close Range that will allow him to attack in first position.

Its mana cost is 10 and that's a high value so it will be difficult to use it in low mana battles unless you have a good strategy, your health is a little high and your speed is average. In addition he has 4 abilities which are: Last Stand, Close Range, Silence and Deathblow.

Enable Level 1 (Last Stand)

Last Stand is the main ability of this post and its function will be to increase Tinderlock's stats by 1.5x when he is your last card in the battle, this means that it will only be activated when there is only Tinderlock left on your team and will increase the attack, speed and health by 1.5x.

Enable Level 1 (Close Range)

The Close Range ability as I mentioned before will allow Tinderlock to be able to attack in first position so you don't have to worry about it becoming useless when it's your last card in battle.

Enable Level 4 (Silence)

The ability Silence is a debuff and it will reduce the magic attack of opposing cards by 1 while Tinderlock is in battle. If he is defeated then the debuff will be disabled.

Enable Level 7 (Deathblow)

The ability Deathblow will make Tinderlock do 2x damage when the opponent only has 1 card in battle.

This is the general information about the Tinderlock card and also explaining how the ability Last Stand works, now I will show how it is in battle.

BATTLE

In the battle I used the fire deck with the summoner Tarsa and my opponent used the dragon deck with the summoner Drake of Arnak.

Watch the Battle

My strategy for the battle was simple and despite not being able to choose the best formation for my team, the result came out as I wanted.

My first intention was always to have Tinderlock as my main weapon in battle since he has the ability Last Stand so I chose to put him in last position to ensure that he was my last card in battle and activated the ability, but because of that I I have to put 2 ranged cards in front and they are not useful in the first position because they cannot attack but it was necessary for me to have Tinderlock with Last Stand.

Battle Rule

As the rule of the battle was Silenced Summoners then my Tarsa and my opponent's Drake of Arnak did not give any bonus to the cards.

  • The battle started and it was as I expected, the Antoid Platoon that I put in the first position defended well thanks to its ability shield and that bought time for my other cards to manage to do as much damage as possible but my true trump card would be Tinderlock on the Final.

  • Antoid Platoon resisted well in the first round but in the second round he already had little life so it took a little time for him to be defeated but it was enough time for my Serpentine Spy to attack and defeat another card. Despite my trump card being Tinderlock, Serpentine Spy was very important to wipe out some cards from my opponent's backline.

  • My other cards didn't last long but it was going well anyway because I had already beaten some of my opponent's cards and I also dealt a lot of damage to his Djinn Chwala card and finally it was Tinderlock's turn to shine.

  • After being my last card in the battle, the ability Last Stand was activated and my Tinderlock increased attack, speed and life by 1.5x and this made it extremely powerful being able to defeat my opponent's cards with just 1 attack , so the result was already decided because there were few cards left for my opponent and they didn't have enough damage to defeat my Tinderlock with Last Stand.

  • Despite not having used the best cards for the battle, the result is what is important and Tinderlock showed how incredible it is and capable of defeating several cards alone.

That was my post about the Tinderlock card, if you want you can also look and participate in my daily giveaway that can be found on my blog. Bye!
