The Winner of the First SGS Monster Pit Raffle is….

….a little bit complicated so bear with me while I try to explain. Last Sunday during the weekly SGS Discord chat - organised by the ever-present @summertooth – we held the first raffle for the use of SGS Monster Pit Splinterlands cards delegated to the SGS Community owned @monsterpit account. We had a mix of entries with some tickets sold for liquid HIVE and other tickets granted in exchange for valuable card donations. All up there were 25 tickets in the raffle, which was a decent involvement for a first up event.

The winner of the raffle draw was @thekittygirl who had been granted a number of tickets due to her generous donation of cards, however she was never intending to play the @monsterpit account herself so after a little bit of discussion in recent days she has decided to gift the prize to @monsterjamgold who had bought some tickets in the raffle but who is also the main sponsor of the fundraiser. He is the leader of the Silver Gold Knights Splinterlands Guild and himself an experienced player of the Splinterlands game as well as a respected member of the SGS Community.

The hope is that @monsterjamgold over the next 2 seasons can really demonstrate what the @monsterpit cards are capable of achieving and that will help us to market it to raffle ticket buyers or auction bidders in future. He is bound to be able to get a better result with the @monsterpit than I have been able to over this last month or two. No pressure of course! It just made a lot of sense to give him first crack at the task of setting the standard so good luck to @monsterjamgold! Massive thanks must go to @thekittygirl who is demonstrating once more what SGS generosity and community support is all about.

On the financial side of things, there was 50 liquid HIVE raised for the @ssg-community account from direct ticket sales and 10% of that is earmarked to kick off the Bonus Pot which is to be the prize for the player who scores the highest ranking over the course of all the seasons of 2021. So at the moment the Bonus Pot stands at a pretty measly 5 HIVE, but that will grow over the year and who knows how much HIVE itself will be worth at the end of 2021! With all of the donated cards the total value of the @ssg-community owned cards is also pushing close to $400 now so it’s been a solid start to this new fundraiser initiative for SGS and the sky is the limit from here.

Today is the start of a new Splinterlands Competitive Season so as the current custodian I’ve cleaned out the DEC and cards that I’ve earned for the community last season and handed over the keys for the @monsterpit account to @monsterjamgold. I was able to achieve a final ranking of 17th in Silver League and won 2 extra Card Packs. With over 8000 DEC earned over the course of this latest season plus reward cards won on top I’m estimating that the @monsterpit account is currently capable of generating upwards of $20 USD in rewards a month. Hopefully we can get this fundraiser well established to generate a dividend in that vicinity to provide some consistently good support to the community curation project going forward.

Thanks for your ongoing support!
