Reflecting on an AWESOME Season

The previous Splinterlands season has come to a close and it was a very eventful season for me!

I made it to Silver league for the first time, thanks to the fantastic rental system that Splinterlands integrated into the game’s interface. This was just what I needed to cross the threshold and move from Bronze I where I’ve been maxing out to Silver III.

Renting cards isn’t a new thing. There are plenty of third party options for card rental and card purchasing. But frankly, I didn’t really want to bother to learn how to use them. A bit lazy on my part. But again, that’s the benefit to having that functionality built into the native interface.

And clearly, I wasn’t the only one making use of that functionality to rise through the ranks. Splinterlands has seen some explosive growth recently thanks in part to the addition of the rental market. This is exciting to see since the competition has become a little bit more intense as well.

Regular players are well aware that there was a day of downtime at the end of the season. This didn’t bother me at all because I had already progressed as far as I was able to. And in my opinion, the Splinterlands team has been doing so well at rolling out updates and managing growth while rolling out new features that taking a day to ensure stable future play is a small thing. Missing out on one day of play, rewards, etc… isn’t really that big of a deal, in my opinion. I'm grateful for their effort and consistency.

I’m pretty happy with the season rewards I got, too. This was my best season rewards yet, including a fair amount of DEC, and a gold foil card.

Bringing Great People Together

Lots of new players entering the game in the past season meant lots of folks looking for guilds. It’s tough to find openings for guilds, and even more so for a new player who might not yet have reached the requirements that some guilds have.

So, I started a guild. Specifically, I started an LGBTQ+ guild that I hope will help attract more LGBTQ+ players to the game, help them to excel, and get them involved in the greater Hive ecosystem. The guild is Prism Legion. We’ll see how it goes. Spots filled up really fast! So, while I still consider myself a new player (since April), I hope that I can make the guild a good place for people to grow as players.

Now that I’ve made it into Silver league, it’s time to set new goals for the coming season. I want to make sure to not miss a daily quest, make it to at least Silver II, and start creating regular content to help both my guild and the Splinterlands community in general. What are your goals for the coming season?
