Still battling in Splinterlands
I started playing @Splinterlands after getting a free starter pack at SF3 in Krakow. It makes up part of my little SF souvenir board.
Since then I have spent some funds on cards, including some of what I powered down on St++mit. That is still only enough for me to play the Gold league since the rules changed recently. I get knocked down to Silver at the start of a season and have to work my way back up to Gold I where I can win 30 chests. I play the daily quests for the extra rewards and have found myself doing a fair few extra battles for fun.
My rewards from last season were not spectacular, but I did get a fair few DEC. Those have been spent upgrading various cards. I am trying to get key cards up to the maximum level I can use with my summoners. Upgrading the summoners will take a lot longer given the prices as I do not plan to invest much more in the game for now.
I am still improving my gold cards as they give me a little extra DEC from each battle they are used in. I am selling off cards I will not use to finance this. As @the-bitcoin-dood has said it would be break if we could burn potions for DEC as I have hundreds that I am not using. I will very rarely buy a pack.
The guild I used, Splinter Elites, is full for now and I get a little extra for being in that, although I probably give them back more.
I know some others treat the game as an investment, but it is really just a bit of fun for me. I would rather invest in powering up HIVE to do more for others. That does not mean I will not spend on this game if I have some windfall/airdrop to use. Investing/holding is all very well, but you need some fun in life and money-watching is not that much fun to me.
If you are a rare person who has yet to play Splinterlands then please consider using my referral link. You will need to buy a starter pack to play.
To battle!
My season rewards were not as good as last time. I can only get as high as Diamond II right now. It was D1 last season, but I sold off a bunch of my unused cards and that brought my cap down. I will probably be down there in Gold with you if I keep selling off cards. I have been taking all of that DEC and powering up my Hive account. I don't feel bad about it. I was never high tier at the game anyway, so it is no big deal.
I will play as long as it's fun. My cards might be worth $300, but I am not desperate for the money.
I was kinda thinkng couple of days ago about this game, maybe check it out, I just really never liked card games
I'd not played this sort of battling card game before, but it can be fun. You have to work out strategies and the conditions keep changing. I at least win more than I lose.
This was my last season of playing. The game became a grind and no longer much fun. Too many good players staying in the low leagues making it impossible to either advance or have a chance at leader board.
I am renting all my cards and hope beta value climbs back up. If prices get high enough I will consider selling and using the proceeds to pay off the MakerDao I took out to buy the cards in the first place.
The game was fun for a while and I do not regret my decision to upgrade my deck but I will now move on to other adventures (unknown at this point :)).
Best of luck to all players.
Those playing mainly for profit do spoil it a bit. I think you should be forced to move up beyond a certain power. There are also the 'bot' accounts. I take special pleasure in beating them. I think they were a big reason for the power limits.
