The Battle

image.png

It's a battle with 20 mana with Stampede ruleset enabled.
This means the following:

The tramble ability can be triggered multiple times per attack if the trampled monster is killed.

My team

Since I don't have other summoners besides the free summoners, the choise wasn't that hard. I prefered to go for Mother Kala over General Sloan since I wouldn't use ranged attacks. Mother Khala also gives a nice +1 health which is alwats usefull, especially is lower mana battles.

image.png

This Summoner has the ability to give +1 health to all monsters. Since all of my chosen monsters have quite low health, this is extremely powerfull.

In the front position I placed my favourite light tank: Chaos knight.

Why did I choose this card?

Altough he only has 4 health, he's still a very good tank. This is because he has the shield ability. There is also a nice synergy with Mother Khala since the more health he has, the more he can use his shield ability.

image.png
In the second place, I put Time mage.

Why did I choose this card?

I really love this card in general. Why do I love it so much? Since it has the slow ability. It's the only free card which has this slow ability. Regarding the order of attacks, it's always nice to attack faster than the enemy. So giving the enemy monsters -1 speed is always helpfull! (Ofcourse not when it's reversed speed!)

She's also nice to put in second place since she has quite some health, especially when combined with Mother Khala. Also the high speed and 1 magic attack is always usefull!

image.png
In the third place, I put Celestial harpy.

Why did I choose this card?

This card is a cheap assassin. For only 2 mana you get a unit which has the opportunity ability. That's not all, she has some defence herself with the flying ability aswell!

This combination of being able to assassinate while dodging attacks herself makes her a very powerfull card for only 2 mana.

image.png
In the fourth place, I put Stitch leech.

Why did I choose this card?

I prefer to take out the backline of the enemy before I try to take on his front position. In combination with my Celestial harpy, the stitch leech is a nice addition to accomplish this.

This card has also 2 attack, which is more than the Celestial harpy, so together they can destroy the enemy backline!

image.png
In the fifth place, I put Pelacor Conjurer.

Why did I choose this card?

As I love assassins myself, I really know how powerfull the sneak ability can be. To counter this, I'll usually try to put some kind of tank in the last position.

When using the light splinter this card is an easy choise for this role. It's quite cheap in mana cost while having 4 health of its own. With Mother khala it's even 5 health, for only 2 mana. What makes it a good tank? Well it has the flying ability so it can dodge quite some attacks in combination with her 3 speed.

Lastly it's the only gold foiled life card that I have, so also the dec bonus is always nice!

Fight!

Round 1

image.png
Start of round 1.

My Time mage and my Celestial harpy succeed in killing two low mana monsters of the enemy. Ofcourse the enemy placed them there as a meat shield. Those death also feed the enemy Riftwing who has the scavenger ability, giving him +1 health for each death in the battle.

In the backline my Pelacor conjurer is dodgin nicely the attacks of the enemy sneak monsters. So that part of my strategy is working out fine.

Round 2

image.png
Start of round 2.

In this round my Celestial harpy continues to assassinate. This time, it is killing one of the enemy sneak monsters. My Pelacor conjurer doesn't succeed in doding the other sneak monster. Ofcourse RNG is RNG, it's not a 100% chanche of missing.

The problem for me will probably be the enemy Riftwing. It keeps scavenging health from all the monsters which are killed. It has quite high speed and has the flying ability, so it's really a dodging monster. We will see how it works out.

Round 3

image.png
Start of round 3.

In this round my time mage got killed, so the enemy monsters get 1 speed back. Besides that not much is happening since all other monsters dodged the incoming attacks. Except for the enemy Death elemental which looses 1 health because of the attack of my Celestial harpy.

Here again my strategy is working out fine, while my Pelacor conjurer is dodging the enemy attacks, my assassins are slowly killing the enemy monsters.

Round 4

image.png
Start of round 4.

In this round my Pelacor conjurer got killed. It can't dodge the attack of the enemy Death elemental since it's a magic attack.

Luckily afterwards my Celestial harpy kills the death elemental. My Stitch leech is also lowering the health of the enemy Silent Sha-vi to 1.

At the moment the battle really looks to be in my favor.

Round 5

image.png
Start of round 5.

In this round my Stitch Leach got killed but my Celestial harpy also takes revenge and kills the enemy Silent Sha-vi.

We can say that the battle is quite over now. My Chaos knight and my celestial harpy will slowly kill the enemy Riftwing. Ofcourse the Riftwing will dodge quite some attacks but it can't deal damage himself.

I won't cover the other rounds, since it would be to boring. Every round my Chaos knight and my Celestial Harpy attack the enemy Riftwing, most often it dodges and sometimes not...

To give an idea, in round 8 my team finally managed to kill the Riftwing and win the battle!

image.png

Conclusion

image.png

My Chaos knight didn't really play an important role since the enemy had the same strategy as me. We both went primarly for the backline instead of the front positioned monster. The biggest difference was that I had a tank in the last spot where the enemy didn't have a tank in the last spot.

As hero of the battle I would nominate my Pelacor Conjurer, since she managed to dodge quite some attacks which made it possible for my assassins to eliminate the enemy team slowly.

About me

I am a person who discovered the Hive community in December 2021. I was looking for a new cardgame to play and eventually earn something in. After some research I discovered Splinterlands. Splinterlands is an innovative addition to the play-to-earn games in the NFT world. Previously known as Steem Monsters, the game operates on the Hive blockchain and belongs to the trading game genre. In Splinterlands, players fight against monsters to get in-game rewards.

I decided to pay the $10 after playing some matches for free. 10 bucks for a computergame seemed fair for me. At the moment I'm trying to build out my carddeck by playing the game and participating in the community. At the moment of writing, my $10 became already worth more!
