Grom tossed his pickaxe into the air and watched it spin in front of the moon. As it came back towards him he heard the sound of movement. Then it was gone.

“So you're here at last Dral. We have been waiting. For some so quick you’re always late.”

“Grom you should be more careful. Without this, you would have been defenseless.”

The Imp dropped the pickaxe from above and Grom caught it and headed inside the caves.

The war had brought The Burning Lands to unite all the clans. They had lost a lot of land to the blight before doing so. It was time to plan a counter-attack. This meeting was to reveal that plan. There where also whispers of something else.

“Grom, Do you have any idea what are we gonna do it? Also, what’s the big secret that’s being hidden from us?”

“Dral all I know is what came in the message summoning us. I have heard we are going to attack them at the border of Mortis.”

They both headed into the caves.

They heard voices as they neared the great hall. Once inside Grom could see that now all the clans had arrived and Malric was in his seat. The old summer was not their strongest anymore but he still was considered their leader. Malric stood and started to talk.

“This what has put us on the defensive for too long. We are attackers, born to take the fight to the enemy. Yet this enemy is unlike anything we have faced before. So I have reached out to an old Adversary to join us on the battlefield.”

Malric turned his gaze towards a hall. There was a green glow that got bright until they could see the source. Zintar steppes into the hall. With a few of the elite troops of the dark eternal. Grom heard weapons burning pulled out. Then Malric started again.

“Zintar is here as my guest! He agreed that is time to take the fight to the blight and they are willing to join us on the battlefield if we start by clearing the border area with Mortis.”

Grom could hear whispers all around. The death clan had not been at war with burning lands for a long time but still, some didn’t trust them. Grom had been on the front lines before come back. He knew the blight and was ready for any help.

“If they are going to kill those devils they are welcome by my side he said”

A lot of eyes fell on the little kobold with his pickaxe in hand. Most would have laughed at him if not for the marks on his weapon. He was one of the few in that room who had killed forces from the blight.

Dral started to talk.

“You should listen to him because he is making a lot of sense to me.”

Grom looked up at Dral. His weapon also had the marks. The two of them had seen each other in the last battle. He respected that Imp more than he would ever let on.

Malric spoke up.

“You can see that after facing this enemy you will no longer question this plan.”

No others in that room had been on the front. Most of them where older leaders of the clans. It didn’t take long for them to fall into line. Grom headed back outside to see the moon again.

“Do you always speak your mind?”

Grom turned and standing above him on the rocks was a skeleton with two blades on his hip. He knew this was one of the assassins of the death clan. Not many got to see them unless they were about to die.

“There is no reason to waste any time. The blight has to be stopped.”

With that, the skeleton nodded and tossed Grom a bag with a liquid inside.

“Put that on your pickaxe before the battle but make sure not to have any open cuts on your hands. I wouldn’t want to see you die before I get to see you fight.”

Grom knew what he held and was glad to have it. The poison that the skeleton assassins used would always kill you unless magic stepped in. It was quite a gift from his new comrade.

Grom looked up at the moon again and in his mind asked for a sign that this was going to work. The old goods mush have been listening.

With that Grom smiled and headed for his tent.

Yes, now that you asked for it to continue it will. One thing I wonder do I need battles? The next step would have a few parts of the battle then just continue after it. Or would it be better to do a big post about a detailed battle?
