Splinterlands Beginner Starter Set Deck: Earth

I’ll be sharing a series of quick-and-easy deck blueprints for the complete Splinterlands beginner. This will cover a starter deck for each Splinter using only the free starter set of cards. I’ll try to add a few suggestions for low cap mana and high cap mana battles too. Some of those alternatives might be cards you need to buy, no need to do so but the might slice up your game life a bit.

This time out in the Splinterlands Starter Deck Series is the Earth Splinter.

The Summoner and the Strategy

We’ll be enlisting the services of a great green wizard who always arrives precisely when he means to. The Wizard of Eastwood.

In the current meta, where you’ll meet lots of Alric Stormbringer combined with Venari Wavesmith, the Wizard of Eastwood essentially nullifies the Armor bonus from the Wavesmith.

In all honesty, I find the Earth Splinter starter set to be quite lacking and the contrast between a basic starter set Earth deck and an Earth deck who has invested in a few additional cards is quite astonishing.

Don’t be discouraged, though. Using the starter set, Earth can be played decently still.

1st Card: Unicorn Mustang

The Unicorn Mustang is a great tank and should be favored whenever it can be afforded. It’s only true drawback is the high mana cost. It’s Health and Speed is high. It also reduces damage from Magic attacks, so when facing an enemy Magic focused deck the Mustang really shines.

Low Mana cap Alternative
The Flesh Golem is a quite good lower mana cap tank alternative. It has quite a bit of Health, and hits hard and fast.

2nd Card: Orc Sergeant

This is the position in which you’ll want to place a monster with the Reach ability, and the Orc Sergeant fills this roll beautifully. He has a good amount of Health, though his speed and attack are a bit lacking.

Low Mana Cap Alternative
The Minotaur Warrior is decent if the Orc Sergeant is too expensive. It has a lot less durability, but is a little faster. It’s faster speed might mean it can dodge a little easier, but I find the Orc superior in basically all situations.

3rd Card: Child Of The Forest

The Child Of The Forest is a fast monster with the Snipe ability, allowing it to attack enemy monsters who are not in first position.

The Rest of the Middle

The order of these middle monsters doesn’t matter much, choose the rest of the cards first and the try to jam in as many of them as possible.

The Goblin Thief is a nice little Sneak surprise with a decent Health.

The Goblin Sorcerer is a cheap Magic caster with the Sneak ability. He can be a nasty little surprise for the enemy.

The Khmer Princess is a super cheap Magic user. She packs quite a punch for the very low cost.

Last Card: Earth Elemental

I like to field the Earth Elemental in the last position. It is slow as can be, but it has a ranged attack and a lot of health. Perfect for protecting the rear and those weaker units in the middle.

Bonus Bought Card: Wood Nymph

This card really, really shines if you are interested in investing in it. As Earth is a deck that have access to a lot of good cards with very high health, especially when you buy a few more cards. Having a healer means that your monsters, especially your tank, will be in fighting condition for longer. The Earth free starter set lacks a healer too, so getting the Wood Nymph will give you a lot more options for deck building.

Using this basic starter blueprint for your deck, you’ll get started with the Earth Splinter quickly. There are many modifications that can be done to this deck once you’re comfortable with deck building, and especially if you’re interested in investing in or renting a few cards to increase your options.
