My Splinterlands Blog #98 - Riftwatcher Set Teaser & Mid-Season Update
Welcome to another article where I write about my journey playing Splinterlands! A lot of teasers were dropped at the last Town Hall with the management of the game. Most of them centered around an upcoming tower defense style game, but a good bit of information was also dropped about the upcoming Riftwatcher's set.
Namely the new summoner cards from the set!
Interestingly they are all epic rarity cards this time around, especially since this will be a relatively "small" set of 3 million packs. One-fifth the size of Chaos Legion, but still twice the size of the last main set, Untamed. At $5 in Splintershards (SPS) a pack, it will be interesting to see how long they take to sell out. Also, all proceeds are going to the SPS Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), rather than the company itself.
The worst summoners seems to be Death and Water out of the lot. The others all seem to have solid potential, especially Fire and Life. Dragon and Earth are interesting, and may be good options in particular match rules or with particular monster line-ups.
The rest of the news mainly focused around other projects, which seem to be new places to spend Dark Energy Crystals or Vouchers. I'm not really going to get into them here, especially as the info was extremely light on what the actual gameplay would entail. So, on to the usual breakdown of the past week in Splinterlands.
Daily Quest Rewards:
Daily Quest # 717. Got Fire Focus… re-rolled to Disable Focus. This was technically Diamond chests from last season, though I reset back to Gold. I got 12 Legendary potions and 31 (19 + 22) Gold potions.
InvestYGator, my Silver alt account, got Disable Focus. I received 2 Legendary potions, 2.195 (.051 + .047 + .314 + 1.439 + 0.344) SPS, and a Pelacor Mercenary (common monster).
Daily Quest # 718. Got Disable Focus. I got 1.483 (0.5 + 0.538 + 0.445) SPS and a Pelacor Mercenary.
InvestYGator got Earth Focus. I received 0.682 (0.234 + 0.404 + 0.044) SPS, 2 Gold potions, 2 Legendary potions, and a Blood Maker (common monster).
Daily Quest # 719. Got Anti Magic Focus. I got 0.895 (0.57 + 0.325) SPS, 11 Gold potions, a Pelacor Deceiver (common monster), and a Vampiric Blossom (rare monster).
InvestYGator got Defend Focus. I received 0.125 (0.047 + 0.078) SPS, 3 Gold potions, a Merdhampir (common monster), a Venari Wavesmith (rare monster), and a Twilight Basilisk (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 720. Got Anti Melee Focus. I got 4 Legendary potions, 4 Gold potions, a Merdhampir, and a Venari Bonesmith (rare monster).
InvestYGator got Anti Melee Focus. I received 0.18 (0.144 + 0.036) SPS, 2 Legendary potions, an Ever-Hungry Skull (common monster), and a Dhampir Infiltrator (rare monster).
Daily Quest # 721. Got Life Focus. I got 3.062 (2.46 + 0.602) SPS, 7 Legendary potions, 11 Gold potions, a Pelacor Deceiver, and 2 Pelacor Bandits (common monster).
InvestYGator got Stealth Focus. I received 0.549 (0.082 + 0.069 + 0.398) SPS, 3 (2 + 1) Gold potions, 6 (3 + 3) Legendary potions, 12 Merits, a Venari Heatsmith (common monster), and a Vampire Bat (common monster).
Daily Quest # 722. Got Life Focus. I received 1.716 (1.454 + 0.262) SPS, 25 (11 + 5 + 9) Legendary potions, an Ever-Hungry Skull, and a Dhampir Infiltrator.
InvestYGator got Flying Focus. I got 0.652 (0.396 + 0.256) SPS, 9 Merits, 6 (3 + 1 + 1 + 1) Gold Potions, a Pelacor Conjurer (common monster), a Vampire Bat, a Gargoya Lion (common monster), and an Ever-Hungry Skull.
Daily Quest # 723. Got Healing Focus. I received 20.655 (0.237 + 0.672 + 0.63 + 0.274 + 2.654 + 14.004 + 1.536 + 0.648) SPS.
InvestYGator got Fire Focus… re-rolled to Defend Focus. I got 0.659 (0.173 + 0.073 + 0.336 + 0.03 + 0.047) SPS, 5 (3 + 2) Gold potions, a Venari Wavesmith, a Naga Assassin (rare monster), and a Gargoya Devil (rare monster).
I opened one Chaos Legion pack:
Nothing too wild in here, but some decent common cards.
Guild Brawls:
Guild Brawl #101, playing Bronze League Gold Foil Only. The guild came in last place. A bunch of inactive people were kicked, and so far we haven't had much luck filling those spots.

The Rest:
No real trading this week, though I did play in a just-for-fun support staff Novice league tournament, where I came in 5th place. I won a Chaos Legion pack, which pretty much every participant got. Ranked has been a bit more frustrating, which seems to be a common feeling.
I've mostly been stuck in Gold league this season, struggling to even get out of Gold II. Silver has been okay on my alt, though opponents tend to either be bots with all level 1 cards, or accounts will all max level cards for Silver. A few other people have mentioned how difficult it seems to be to advance the last season or two.
That's about it for this week. Kind of unexciting rewards this week, so hopefully the end of the season will be a bit better. I'll be back next week with another article to tell how I make out.
