Buying Chaos Legion packs

The price on Hive Engine for Chaos Legion packs today was just $5.38, making me decide to buy a few packs on the market instead of using the voucher system. I know having a shot at the airdrops is cool, and sometimes well worth it, but knowing the number of packs that I'm probably going to purchase in the next month or month and a half, it's truly not worth spending the extra money. I only receive 1.1 something vouchers a day meaning that there will be a number 28 dropped this full month, to me it's not worth having a shot at airdrops. I will start working on that once the general sale starts, and buy the packs in-game to build my chance at airdrops.

I had some HBD liquids left in my account, so I went ahead and bought 6 chaos packs on HE:

I have to admit, that paying just a little over 5 bucks is making me happier than going into the voucher system and at least doubling the price. I'm glad we're now getting closer to the public sale where we can buy them for just 4 bucks in-game. I understand that for some people buying them in bulk where they are somehow guaranteed a certain amount of airdrops each round is more appealing. For someone that can only buy smaller amounts of packs, like me, it's a different story.

Sending the Chaos legion packs tokens to Splinterlands

In case you don't know how you can get them in-game to open the packs, this is very easy:

Go to the "open" tab in Splinterlands and click on the convert packs button. You can now either tokenize your packs bought in-game and send them to Hive Engine, OR deposit your Hive Engine tokenized packs (bought in the market) to get them in-game and open them. Just select the quantity, Hive Engine and click on the deposit (or tokenize) button.

Within a few minutes, you will get this notification in-game that your packs have arrived from Hive Engine. Now it's time for the fun part!

Opening the packs

I first needed to get more potions as I really don't like to lower my chances of opening good cards by not spending the extra money on potions first. Hopefully, it's worth it although I haven't put my hopes up too high with only 6 packs to open. The more packs, the higher the chances of course. But maybe I get lucky today?

My first 4 packs:

1 epic and 4 rares. I still don't know much about the cards as I haven't played much this season yet, but I will slowly start to recognize the cards I love playing and get more excited when opening certain cards.

The last 2 packs made me happy: my favourite Choas legion sum so far: obsidian and a neutral epic. I wonder if I already played it, but having neutrals is always handy as I can play them in each team.

Not the best round, but also not the worst. When I looked into my account value on @peakmonsters, I noticed the value of my account has dropped VERY hard. I was quite shocked because I thought the dump had already happened the last time I checked when I was still 300 or 400 USD up in value. It's something I expected to happen though, the dumping of cards so people can buy into Chaos legion, and I just have to sit it out, I guess.

Level up the earth summoner Obsidian

Although my earth cards aren't yet levelled mostly, I still thought that it was a good time to check if I could at least level up the earth sum now that it's still relatively low in value. I thought I needed only 1 more, and bought one for $6.55 until I discovered I made mistake and need 2 of them to level it up. At that time the card had already gone up to $7.02. I still bought it, oh well.

I have to say that Obsidian is a card that caught my attention immediately, I love the art! My compliments to the designer!

The earth and death teams are the ones I tried playing the most so far after the release of Chaos legion. The death team because I had a death quest twice and the earth team because I already loved playing earth and saw all these new monsters and the new sum, making it even more appealing to play. Of course, I have to get familiar with the cards and find new strategies to play, but I feel more confident to level up my account and hopefully soon play for DEC rewards again and earn more rewards.

I will now probably check the market more often to see if there are opportunities to level up my favourite Earth monsters. In the end, I do need to think ahead when I want to play a few leagues up instead of renting out most of my cards.
