Tales From An Ordinary Player #3

As discussed in the second part of this series, I have transitioned from a heavy rental player (used to rent maxed BCX cards allowed in Silver 1) to a 50 DEC to
no rental
(God forbid I won't tilt as I may end up renting a Yodin) as of this writing.

In this post, I will be discussing two other decks that allowed me to reach Silver 3 and stay there.

For the second part of the series.

Water Deck

As someone who happens to just love legendary cards, I immediately bought the three legendary cards from the reward cards the day after they came out. I admit that since I didn't understand the values of those cards at that time, I felt that I was overpaying for:

Boy, couldn't be more wrong about you.

As it turns out Djinn Oshanus was the best bang for the buck card I got (I believe I got him $28). Him combined with the available loaned cards for water made for a formidable deck that makes Water Daily Quests less difficult and obliterates majority of team comps at the lower leagues. In case you have reached this part of my blog and haven't figured it out yet, I am a bonafide user of the infamous Magic Spam deck 😎.

Backed by a Djinn Oshannus and Venari Wavesmith this deck is a force to be reckoned with at the lower leagues whenever Water splinters are available. At this point, having this deck is somewhat of a staple as it yields desirable results on most matches.

I made this post though not to focus on this Water archetype but instead on the other Water deck. I am pretty sure lots of contents are available for the Magic deck and ways to counter them.

Role Reversal

My previous blog features a Life Deck most of the times associated with survivability and sneak can also be viable as a magic deck using reward cards. In the same manner, the same can be said for Water utilizing sneak and physical sources of damage. With the double strike ability, sneak and armor present on the reward cards (past and present) and neutral cards. Building this archetype somewhat makes sense. This along with speculations of Chaos Legion bringing in cards that offers good synergy on the strategy.

With the goal set of building a Non Magic Damage focused water deck, I slowly worked on acquiring a summoner that compliments the water reward cards. I also focused on what made sense for me on what I can spend. That summoner would be:

So far I have acquired enough copies to level her up to 3

In most matches, getting an advantage either via skill or card stats are needed to have a higher chances of winning. That being said, one advantage I could have is to use higher BCX cards on the cards I plan on using. Getting a higher level summoner allows me to that. Vera Salacia's price is much lower compared to other summoners from Water, so I decided to get copies of her. Getting her at level 2/3 allowed me to use better versions of the Demented Shark, Axe Master, Venari Wavesmith and Pelacor Bandit (all reward cards).

From the various rewards and investment I made, I have so far accumulated the following cards for Water:

Water Splinter Collection

Like the Life decks I am using, I can go either physical and magic depending on the match stipulations. By maximizing the rewards from daily and season reward cards, I have slowly built up 4 viable decks (Life, Magic Life, Magic Spam and Hybrid Water) without renting.

Below is a highlight made using my Water Splinters collection. The match uses a combination of about Physical and Magic sources of damage (Hybrid):

The collection discussed in this post (and the one before this) is not enough in terms of CP to stay at Silver 3. To achieve that, I have to make more moves....

To be continued....

Thanks @ivarbjorn for the curation and the kind words. Seeing and reminding me of these kind of posts makes me continue on days that I feel doubts on what I am doing.

All the best.
