Tales From An Ordinary Player Part 2

This is the long overdue second part of a series that I was planning to have when I started blogging. A lot has happened since then and some of my perspectives were changed after meeting more awesome people in the Hive and Splinterlands community.

Here is the first part of the intended series.

Learning

Building up my own deck and collection power has been a long term goal for me. Aiming to play at Silver consistently (hopefully at a high level) is something that I am hoping to do someday. With this I rented power cards and max level cards just to get my feet wet. I really did enjoy playing in tournaments and higher leagues. It is exciting and allowing me to learn more. However, doing so is not sustainable for me. Looking at the cards am using and the level they are at, it would really be hard for me to acquire them (I love those legendary cards 😅). With my current skillset or lack thereof, it was time for me to move on my initial goal of gradually building my collection (Thanks to the #nosleepgang community for always reminding me of this and never losing sight of it).

Building it up with No Rentals.....Almost

When I started playing and being Gacha Gamer one of the the first purchases I made were Dice Packs. Luckily I somehow had this among the first packs:

Due to increased demands at that time and how expensive a Mylor is, I decided to let them go to have my first ever Level 3 Summoner:

I then proceeded to slowly acquire reward cards and level them up to be of enough level to compete at low silver.

Reward Cards are Rewarding

Those reward cards are rewarding no pun intended. With my summoner established I then focused on Chaos Legion/Modern Format Viable cards that I have an access to. Focusing Primarily on Life, I somehow manage to acquire decent cards good enough to compete (along with starter cards leased to players, Thanks Splinterlands):

I know my collection pales in comparison to most Silver League players, but I can't help but be proud of what I've gathered after 2 months of playing.

The Part to Blog About

As of today my CP is at: 13,520 (some of my cards are on the rental market) and few rentals away from Silver. With the cards I own and the rentals I still do (there are staple cards from Alpha and Beta), I managed to reach 15,440 with these rentals:

My rental cost is way low compared to when I was renting for my Daily Quests (when I had no cards). It is today that I really felt good about my cards. I managed to finish a daily quest with a few matches and still lots of ECR to earn. It just feels good and rewarding to win using my own deck!!!!

Chaos Legion is already looming, and now there are reasons to believe that cards that will make our collection stronger will arrive. As for now, the plan is to continue with this journey of building up my collection and have an almost rental free deck. As of now, I already have three functional decks and hope to write about them soon.
