Keep SPT in account or exchange for DEC?
I recently created a SteemMonsters account for my @vempromundo.pob curation account for a few reasons:
remember what it's like to play from the beginning and what has changed for beginners now compared to beginners in 2018 when I started
see how long it takes to recover the $10 we spent buying the initial spellbook
make an account with all strong decks and not just one as in the case of my main account that there are decks for me to reach gold 2 and there are some that do not make me leave silver 2
So in looking at ways I could maximize my profits, I decided to start posting daily reports to the Splinterland community in order to receive SPT for that.
I didn't really know what a difference the SPT could make after all its airdrop point value is 0.25 per unit, so I figured because it was low and I didn't know many people from that tribe (therefore not getting many votes in my posts) that I could keep staked there and delegate to someone who could make better use of it
So my first reward I delegated to @rentmoney who is a more experienced player and I believe he could make better use of my SPT Power, even though it was only 126 delegated units.
Then I got some better votes and decided to go see how much the SPT unit was worth on the market, and here's what I noticed:
1 DEC = 1 AirDrop Points and 1 SPT = 0.25 AirDrop Points, so at the current price I see that it's worth converting all SPT gained to DEC
For example, 100 SPT = 25 AirDrop Points, and if we sell at market price we get 1.16 HIVE.
With 1.16 Hive we were able to buy at market price approximately 93 DEC, which is worth 93 AirDrop Points
A value almost 4 times higher

I believe that for the current value it is not worth it, as it is 7 days of loss (I would have to do the math, to be sure). But I think future rewards would be interesting.

Those are some interesting numbers. Thanks for the delegation. Any delegation is always appreciated. Feel free to remove it whenever you want. I'm trying to reach 1 million SPT so I'll be hoarding all the SPT I can. I won't be purchasing any DEC at these prices as its value is usually $1/1000. I'm not sure if it will go back down or not but I'm going to proceed with caution. I'll keep an eye out for your Splinterlands post and hit them with some upvotes.
It's a small delegation so I don't see why removing it, in the short term it won't make that much difference, and I don't have a lot of time to curate there, I think it will make a lot more sense in your hands.

Is Delegation menas a upvote also?
Delegation means to loan out something with 0 risk. This can be done on the HIVE network with HIVE Power and also can be done with TRIBE tokens and Splinterland cards.
If I delegate to you SPT what will I get?
A share from curation?
@monster-curator is the SPT curation account that offers curation splits for the SPT token.
I don't have such a system in place. I don't actively look for delegations.

Oh wow! I'm new to gameplay but not the game. I bought starter packs a few years ago but honestly couldn't figure out how to play. I'm kicking myself now but I'm learning.
I've been wondering how to maximize my "off game" stuff so you've made an interesting point. I gotta say I'm enjoying learning the game but also posting on splintertalk. It would be great if I learned to make it profitable.

The difference is more then 3 times.. intresting calculation. But wanna add one thing that SPT staking also earn curation rewards which is not for DEC...
Some interesting points in the comments regarding the power down. I'm not really sure it's worth the trouble of selling SPT for DEC since the amounts are so small. I think my time is better spent elsewhere, like sorting out my rentals for example. 😁
