Mycelic Slipspawn in an EPIC battle!

Finally, an EPIC and interesting battle that I can share in the weekly battle challenge. And you would not believe it, it happened in the first battle that I played with Mycelic Splipspawn. It was destined to share this EPIC battle with this amazing #splinterlands community.

Mycelic Splipspawn is an interesting card. At this moment you can buy 1 BCX for 0.32 USD which is not a bad price for a rare card with a lot of utility. I like this card because of her obvious synergy with Obsidian and because of her good stats and abilities. Taunt ability is the main advantage of Mycelic Splipspawn. It means that all monsters will attack Mycelic Splipspawn beside the first monster in the enemy team which will attack the first target in your team. I use this to "SPLIT" the damage that enemy teams deal so both Mycelic Slipspawn and my tank (in this case Pelacor Mercenary) will live a bit longer.

The ability that is also useful is Forcefield. It protects Mycelic Slipspawn from the damage of 5 attack and more and reduces it to 1 damage. This is very useful against big attackers and it means that Mycelic Slipspawn is even harder to kill by the big hitters. In the new expansion, Rift Watchers, there will be an ability that will allow monsters to deal double damage to Taunt monsters. Mycelic Slipspawn is covered there as it has Forcefield ability so the biggest hit it could take is 4 damage.

Slow ability is just another amazing addition to Mycelic Slipspawn. All those magic monsters in the Chaos Legion expansion are pretty slow so any speed buff or debuff is more than welcomed, though it can be used only in Diamond and beyond.

As always I will not go through the whole battle explaining what happened. I will rather explain why I picked all those cards and what was my line of thinking and decision making. But I am strongly encouraging you to check out this battle as it is EPIC and it intense to the very end.

So, let me explain my thought process behind my team. Imporant thing to notice is a ruleset and Noxious Fumes and Equalizer that were part of this battle. Because of that I decided for all the heal I could include in my team and it was worth it.

Pelacor Mercenary - obvious choice for a tank in this ruleset because of his Heal ability. When you add Flying and some armor to that he is a real stand out for this matchup. Yes, Grund could be better from the damage standpoint but you just can't ignore that double heal in combination with Goblin Psychic - it is just too powerful.

Regal Peryton - a realy interesting card in the Earth splinter due to his Flying ability and amazing speed. He also has a decent chunk of health so I often use him as off-tank in the second spot or as a sneak-tank in the last spot. He could provide a good defense, especially when paired with cards like Mycelic Slipspawn that will take off some heat from heam, Spirit Hoarder that will heal him and Queen Mycelia that will provide additional defense boost in form of Protect.

Goblin Psychic - I think that there is no need for big explanation about this card. Tank Heal is the main reason why I picked this card. That additional heal for Pelacor Mercenary was essential. And then, Silence, the reason why this card realy shines. One of the best common card in the Chaos Legion expansion and if you are playing Earth, you will probably pick this guy as your support. Could be a target of Snipe or Opportunity so try to position him to minimize the damage on this monster.

Spirit Hoarder - the main reason why I picked this monster is to keep Mycelic Slipspawn alive for a bit longer, and it did its job perfectly. Not only that but it also healed other monsters that would otherwise die to the damage of Noxious Fumes. It is even better on higher levels with Dispel and Blind abilities. I am not sure would I win this game if it wasn't for Spirit Hoarder.

Mitica Headhunter - what more can I say that pure damage. The problem? How it works with obsidian and magic teams. The rest of the monsters go straight for the health. With Mitica that is not the case as she is ranged and attacks armor first. I had a feeling that I am wasting my time with her in this team and maybe I was. Maybe another magic attack user would be way better. But if we put that aside she did some serious damage. On level 4 she has Piercing ability that makes her so much more dangerous.

Mycelic Slipspawn - the star of this game. I used this monster to split the damage between tank in the first spot and Mycelic Slipspawn in the last spot. It could be wise to use this monster in the second spot so if your first spot tank dies Mycelic Slipspawn would benefit from Tank Heal ability. That could be a risky move because of Blast ability that would then spread to first and third monsters. If you are not sure about blast damage I would say that first and the last spot are the best for Mycelic Slipspawn. Overall, an amazing card that certantly won this game for me.

Summary

Mycelic Slipspawn is an amazing card that just must have in and league. It will certainly help you to win more, especially if you can assist this monster with some support cards that will provide extra armor or heal. Damage from this mosnter is not amazing but that's why it can survive for a long time. Maybe now is a time to consider buying this card if you don't already have one. But first, rent this card and try it in different combinations to see it at work.

It is the perfect time to buy some cards and rebuild your deck. Packs are not selling as fast as expected so prices are stable. I expect them to go down even more once we sell more packs.
