The perfect tanks for each legendary summoner (Silver League)

avatar

In this post, I am exploring the perfect tanks to pair with each of the Splinterlands’ legendary summoners. Note that I’ll be mainly talking about the Silver league because that’s what I’m most familiar with.

Let’s get started!

Fire: Yodin Zaku and Plado Emberstorm

Well, we primarily use Yodin not for tanks but for our archers in the backline. Yodin would be excellent with high damage-absorbing tanks such as Chain Golem, Onyx Sentinel, and Lord Arianthus, all of which have Shield and Void. But anyone with Close Range will definitely be on the list as well, such as Lava Launcher and Gargoya Devil.

As for Plado, obviously, it will fit well with melee-based tanks. Personally, I like to pair him with fast (and semi-fast) melee tanks such as Magnor, Serpentine Soldier, Serpent of the Flame, and Cerberus.

Water: Valnamor and Lir Deepswimmer

For me, the most apparent tank for Lir Deepswimmer would be The Kraken. You’d like a relatively fast tank and can absorb a lot of damage: I think only The Kraken fits the description for the Water Splinter. You’d like a tank that’s fast to avoid some of the hits (because of Deepswimmer’s Blind ability), and also, you’d want someone with high life to receive and send back ranged damage (from Deepswimmer’s Return Fire ability).

As for Valnamor, he’d be great next to a Magic-based tank such as Djinn Oshannus.

Earth: Prince Rennyn and Scarred Llama Mage

For Llama, we all know that Kron is its partner-in-crime. Kron’s healing plus Last Stand makes it very tough to beat. Aside from Kron, Flesh Golem and Hydra can also work.

For Prince Rennyn, it would be the same as Yodin above. You’d want high damage-absorbing tanks. Anyone with Close Range would also work: so Beatrix Ironhand and Gargoya Devil.

Life: The Peakrider and Chanseus the Great

I like using Peakrider with Clay Golem because the latter had Void, and the additional armor from Peakrider deals with the non-magic damage. But my preference is Peakrider with Sacred Unicorn. I also add a monster with Repair at the back (either Armorsmith or Lone Boatman). I like the Heal + Repair combo.

For Chanseus, I think he’s best with Chain Spinner. Chain Spinner has super high armor that can take magic damage (because of its Magic Void), which Chanseus can repair each round.

Death: Crypt Mancer and Mimosa Nightshade

Mimosa takes care of both magic and ranged damage due to her Void and Headwinds ability, respectively. So, I like to pair her with an anti-melee tank, such as Harklaw (or the Neutral tanks with Shield).

Crypt Mancer is like the opposite of Mimosa - it demoralizes the enemy (plus more). So I like to pair him with an anti-magic tank, such as Bone Golem (or the Neutral tanks with Void).

Dragon: Archmage Arius, Byzantine Kitty, Selenia Sky, Camila Sungazer

Dragon is super interesting since you can pair them with any of the other Splinters. So there are a ton of possibilities.

Camila would be similar to Crypt Mancer, so I’d like to put an anti-magic tank. Robo-Dragon Knight fits her very well. Selenia Sky would be a similar analysis as Yodin and Prince Renner: pair her with high damage-absorbing tanks or anyone with Close Range.

I haven’t tried Archmage Arius (it’s expensive!), but I think he would be great to a tank with magic + melee attack in one, so Oaken Behemoth, Kralus, and Red Dragon come to mind.

For Kitty, it would be fun to dodge all day. Pair it with a super fast tank! I made a two-part analysis of the fastest monsters in Splinterlands here and here. Spoiler: Nightmare from Death or Serpent of the Flame from Fire would be very very fast with Kitty!
