Hi everyone, Welcome to my BATTLE MAGE SECRETS post. BATTLE MAGE SECRETS itself is a replacement for SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE, where if SHARE YOUR BATTLE CHALLENGE takes 1 monster as its weekly theme while BATTLE MAGE SECRETS takes 1 Ruleset as its theme. And the theme for this week is...

AIMLESS

image.png

AIMLESS is a Ruleset where all monsters (both our own and the opponent's) will get an additional ability in the form of SCATTERSHOT. Scattershot is an ability that can only be used for Ranged and Magic-type monsters. Melee monsters that get this ability from the ruleset will have no effect on their attack direction.

Abilities Benefited by This Ruleset
image.pngBLAST

For Ranged and Magic monsters, their attacks have the possibility to hit monsters in positions other than the first position. So the effect will hit 2 monsters that are around it
image.pngPOISON (and other debuffs whose activation method must hit the target)

If Ranged and Magic monsters have POISON abilities (or similar), the presence of SCATTERSHOT is quite helpful. Because the debuff given to the target (if successful) that is in a position other than the first position cannot be removed by CLEANSE.
Abilities that are not very effective in this ruleset
image.pngTAUNT

image.pngCAMOUFLAGE

Monsters with the SCATTERSHOT ability "don't care " where their attacks are directed. So, neither TAUNT nor CAMOUFLAGE abilities will affect SCATTERSHOT.

RULESET & FORMATION

image.png

Besides, AIMLESS. The rulesets in this battle are EARTHQUAKE and MELEE MAYHEM. Where EARTHQUAKE requires monsters that have FLYING to not be affected by the ruleset, while MELEE MAYHEM can make Melee monsters attack in any position. When I found out about the ruleset, I decided on this formation...

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
- Reduce 1 Attack Point to All Enemies Ranged monster

- Reduce 1 SPEED to All Enemies
I chose Quix the Devious as Summoner because he is a Dragon, and Dragon Splinter has many monsters that have FLYING abilities.
Flying + Void (Lv1)I chose Void Dragon because it is a monster that has the highest SPEED of all the monsters in the Chaos Legion edition of Dragon Splinter. With its high SPEED, it has the opportunity to dodge Melee or Ranged monster attacks. Meanwhile, attacks from Magic monsters can be warded off with VOID.
Flying + Recharge (Lv1)
+ Close Range (Lv2)
I chose Zyvax Vuul to be the 2nd Tanker if VOID Dragon is defeated. The high attack power (as long as the monster doesn't have ARMOR) and high Health points make me choose it.
Flying (Lv1)I chose Regal Peryton because he has the highest SPEED among all the monsters in my formation this time. And the other reason is...
Martyr (Lv1)Although he seems quite useful, his "death" can give additional stats to nearby monsters.
Flying + Scattershot (Lv1)
+ Blast (Lv2)
The monster that benefits the most in this Ruleset because it has FLYING and also BLAST. Moreover, he will get additional Stats when Fungus Flinger falls.
Blast (Lv1)
Although it has BLAST, Goblin Tower lacks FLYING and high SPEED. I don't have high expectations, but if its attack manages to hit the opponent's monster, it will have a considerable impact.

BATTLE START !!!

image.png

I got neither a buff nor a debuff. While on the opponent's side, he received a debuff in the form of a SPEED reduction from me (Quix the Devious) and a buff in the form of additional Health points from Djinn Renova.

image.png

As Round 1 came to a close, it appeared that some of the opponent's monsters had taken some damage. One of the causes was the attack from Chaos Dragon which "scattered" its BLAST around the target.

When the effect of the EARTHQUAKE Ruleset becomes active, Fungus Flinger falls and activates his ability at the same time. This makes the surrounding monsters (Regal Peryton and Chaos Dragon) gain additional stats.

image.png

Even with the help of RECHARGE, Uriel the Purifier was unable to land his attack on Void Dragon. Meanwhile, Gargoya Lion, which has a lower SPEED, can land its attack.

image.png

The Goblin Tower lost due to the effects of EARTHQUAKE (I didn't have high expectations for it in the first place). My side and the opposing side both left only monsters with the FLYING ability in the battle arena.

image.png

Once again, Uriel the Purifier lost the success of landing attacks to Gargoya Lion who had a lower SPEED than him.

image.png

Because Uriel the Purifier has neither VOID nor SHIELD, he can be defeated easily.

Review of this battle

The results of battles in the AIMLESS Ruleset are always unpredictable because the attacks from Ranged and Magic monsters are directed irregularly. Sometimes they hit monsters that are quite vital, and sometimes they hit monsters that are quite "defensive ". And in this battle, I was quite lucky because of my advantage in SPEED. This made many of the opponent's attacks fail to hit some of my monsters, so I managed to win the battle this time.

The thing that made me quite surprised and impressed was that Uriel the Purifier who had a higher SPEED than Gargoya Lion failed to land his attack, while Gargoya Lion still managed to attack. This also allowed me to win quite easily this time.
