Hello everyone, welcome. As promised in the previous post, in Share Your Battle this time (and the next 2-3 posts) I will discuss about water monsters. And for this post I will discuss about Wave Brood (and also its combination partner, Mermaid Healer)

image.png

And for the Ruleset this time it is TARGET PRACTICE and STAMPEDE with 46 mana. TARGET PRACTICE is a situation where All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability. STAMPEDE is a situation where The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed.

My Line-Up

CardsAbilityReason
Give +1 Speed and +1 Armor to All Allieswith the addition of speed, making all my monsters get a chance to attack first.

Another reason is because there is Wave Brood there
Trample (Lv1)Monster with the most ARMOR also has TRAMPLE. as a Tank if the opposing Monster has a large number of Attacks.

Actually Serpent of Eld is the best choice (because it has Dodge that has the opportunity to dodge enemy attacks), but I don't want to rely too much on Luck.
Sneak (Lv1)Because it is in a large Mana, it is better to maximize it by using a Monster that has a large attack as well.
Protect (Lv1)In this battle, I only need the PROTECT ability. because most of the Monsters of the Fire and Water Elements are Melee and Ranged.

Everything would be different If they used a Magic-type Monster, like Djinn Oshannus. Or even use Alric Stormbringer as a Summoner
Triage (Lv1)To heal Wave Brood (which of course will take the biggest damage in this battle).

Suitable combination when you put the TAUNT capable Monster in the back position
Double-strike (Lv1)Maximize attack and finish off enemy monsters as fast as possible. (can also avoid the effects of the FORCE FIELD ability?)

(INFO) When combined with Torhilo the Frozen + Bortus as the summoner, they will be the Anti-Magic Team.
please, notice me! Taunt (Lv1)The main star in this battle is together with Mermaid Healer. How can that be? you can see it in the Battle Start! session or go directly to FULL BATTLE LINK

BATTLE START !!!

image.png

The enemy chose Kelya Frendul as well as the Summoner (I thought they would use Tarsa and maximize the attack). The monsters used by the Opponent don't really aim for the Monster in the first position (there are 2 Monsters with OPPORTUNITY, which will probably target my Monster with low Health).

The enemy also seems a little confused about choosing a monster (in my opinion), because he only has 5 of 6 Slots to fill. Moreover, with a large amount of mana (46), he should be able to add 1 more monster.

After all Abilities are applied......

image.png

Because we both use Kelya Frendul, then all monsters (both on my side and the enemy) get +1 Speed and +1 Armor. Enemies no longer receive additional Buff from their Monsters. On my side, the +2 Armor of Venari Wavesmith puts me ahead in terms of Armor.

image.png

At the end of Round 1, the enemy loses a Mantoid which was hit by four of my Monsters (Axemaster, Venari Wavesmith, Wave Brood, and Sand Worm).

Whereas on my side, Diemonshark only lost 4 Armor due to attacks from 2 enemy Monsters. And 2 other Monsters Forced to direct their attacks at Wave Brood (effect of TAUNT).

Mermaid Healer's TRIAGE ability can't be used yet, because Mermaid Healer has a faster Speed while enemies who attack Wave Brood have more Speed low. (That means Wave Brood just got attacked after Mermaid Healer's turn)

Reach Ability is not affected by the effects of Taunt

image.png

In Round 2, all my monsters (except Sand Worm) target the enemy's Diemonshark and cause their Armor to run out and lose 2 Health. Meanwhile, my Diemonshark only received 1 of 2 attacks from the enemy.

In Round 2, the TRIAGE ability activates and heals Wave Brood (The monster in the rear that takes the most damage). However Wave Brood must take 5 more damage from 2 enemy monsters.

image.pngAt the start of Round 4, the enemy only has 2 Monsters left

In Round 3, Mermaid Healer uses TRIAGE again and heals Wave Brood (4 HP). Then after that, Wave Brood takes 5 more damage.

On the enemy side must lose 2 Monsters. The monster in the last position was defeated by Sand Worm, while the enemy's Diemonshark had to lose to my Axemaster and Diemonshark.

TRIAGE can only heal 1/3 of the maximum amount of Health possessed by the Monster in the rear position that takes the most damage (Splintercards)

image.png

After being healed by TRIAGE, Wave Brood doesn't take any more attacks. Because the monster that the enemy has is only 1.

The reason was that the enemy's Flying Squid was killed by Axemaster, Diemonshark, and Venari Wavesmith. And the Sand Worm attack reduces 5 Health of the enemy's last Monster.

STRATEGY (Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?)

On the one hand, my strategy went quite well thanks to Wave Brood which was able to survive the enemy's barrage of attacks and Mermaid Healer who supported it.

But on the other hand, the enemy seems to be in a hurry with his decision. And that makes me win this easily. If the enemy adds 1 more monster, maybe Wave Brood will lose in round 1 or 2.

For future strategy, maybe I should hire a few more monsters that have a high enough attack in order to find the Best Formation.

Is the current Formation still lacking?

arguably still lacking. Because the biggest attacks are currently only owned by Axemaster and Sand Worm. A monster with the PIERCING / DOUBLE STRIKE ability and has a large attack will be very suitable for dealing with enemies who have Armor.

Do you like Wave Brood & Mermaid Healer?

Yes, I really liked them when I first came across this combination. I've never seen this combination during my fight at @splinterlands (maybe this combination is only found in certain Ruleset, or maybe a higher league)

The only monster that can use TRIAGE while still at level 1 is Mermaid Healer (making it a perfect match when Wave Brood is in the rear position)

Wave Brood also has the CLOSE RANGE ability which allows him to fight in first place. However, this is not good for a monster that has TAUNT, because he has to take all the opponent's attacks (6 Monsters) if he is in a leading position.

It's different if Wave Brood is in the rearmost position, he will only receive a maximum of 5 attacks from the opponent (Monsters in the first position can only attack Monsters in the same position)

image.png

That was my experience using a combination of Wave Brood and Mermaid Healer. It's true, this combination still has many drawbacks. Because this combination just occurred to me. And also This combination requires help and support from other Monsters, both in terms of attack or defense in order to become the invincible.

For the next Share Your Battle, it's possible to discuss this combination again or other water monsters.

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to read. See you in the next post....

thanks, I got this strategy when I first rented Wave Brood. Then I looked for a way how to make the enemy can continue Directing his attention to Wave Brood, and I just remembered about the TRIAGE ability.
