Hello everyone and welcome again!

This season has been great! I already have my first soulbound reward cards, this one here is my first card I got, Madcap Magus. Just this season the Battle Challenge had as central theme the card Grund, a card with a very powerful attack that belongs to the splinter Earth, just like my first soulbound reward card.

So to make this challenge I decided to combine both cards in the same lineup and show how excellent they can be in a battle, of course adding some more cards to enhance the strategy, so you can't miss it!

In case you don't know it...

Introducing Grund!

Edition: Chaos Legion.
Rarity: Epic.
Element: Earth.
Attack: Melee.
Mana Cost: 10 points.

Abilities:

  • Double Attack at lvl 1

  • Trample at lvl 4

  • Cripple at lvl 6

An the market cap of this card is:

image.png

  • 1 BCX of this card in its regular version costs 1.54$ and you can buy a higher level version of 46 BCX for 71$.

There are many at the minimum price so it is best to buy them individually right now.
I think its best price window has already passed, like all the other cards in its edition, so this may be the last chance to buy it at these cheap prices.

  • 1 gold BCX costs 12.50$, and right now all versions with more than 1 BCX are priced higher than that, so if you want to buy it right now, it is best to do it individually.

How to use Grund?

Grund is a card that has too much attack so you have to take advantage of that to the maximum, the double attack is very important in its performance so use skills that enhance that, such as Inspire or Rust, to remove armor and the damage is complete to the enemy card. There are many cards in splinter earth that have Tank Heal and that is perfect for Grund because he has no armor of his own, but a lot of life, so healing him is a basic but very effective strategy.

Mana: 34 points - Broken Arrows + healed Out

Round 1

  • I used Failed Summoner because my opponent's last games had Queen Mycelia, and since there is no healing there is no danger with Obsidian, so removing the armor would help my Grund later on.

  • Use Mycelic Slipspawn as a tank because his Taunt will help my team to deflect attacks towards him and give my Madcap Magus time to increase his HP.

  • Failed Summoner will serve as a second tank to return magic damage, in this ruleset where you can't heal the damage returned is very good.

  • Grund is in third place to receive the advantage tank position, with cards weakened by the damage received and ready to destroy the opponent.

  • Madcap Magus with his vampirism will become stronger and stronger increasing his life.

  • Venari Scout will be eliminating the weak cards of my opponent, the low life is one of the disadvantages of Obsidian, so I exploit it with this card.

  • Uraeus is for the same reason as Venari Scout, to eliminate weak cards in the second line.

Round 2

image.png

The plan was executed perfectly, my Failed Summoner dealt damage to the opponent cards leaving them weaker for my Uraeus and Scout to do the rest, while my Grund reached the tank position to do his thing.

In case that strategy failed I still had my Madcap Magus standing ready to take the enemy damage.

Round 3

image.png

It only took one turn for Grund to give me the victory. Thanks to his Double Attack ability I knocked out Mycelic Slipspawn and Regal Peryton, even with the tremendous combined damage that Obsidian has, they are still easy prey for my Grund because as I mentioned before, they have very little health. That gives me a lot of advantage.

Round 4

The damage of my Grund ended up being too much for what my opponent's cards could withstand, so in the end I got the victory thanks to this powerful card, which takes the MVP of the game without any doubt.

How was my experience with this card?

I think that all cards that have the double attack ability are very powerful and Grund should be at least in the top 3 of the cards that have it. It is true that it has no defense but if you protect it well this card can win a game by itself and not to mention when the ruleset Stampede is active, there if you can literally sweep the entire enemy team, I think it is a card that if or if you have to have in your lineup.
