For this weeks battle challenge I am gonna do a legendary reward monster; ZALRAN EFREET. Costing 5 mana ZALRAN EFREET combo of awesome abilities like Life Leach, Cleanse, Headwinds and Strengthen.

Although being a magic attack monster, ZALRAN EFREET is susceptible to magic reflect but it compensates this disadvantage by Life Leach ability.

Here is the amazing lore:

Zalran is one of the most powerful spellsmen of the Efreet clans. The concentrated power of his mind is said to have cleaved the great boulders of Luzka in two to retrieve the ancient and radiant *Puyo Stone*. The Torch would pay any sum for the Stone to gain its untold powers, but against the wishes of the Torch, Zalran kept the Puyo Stone. He is one with the Stone. By holding it forever close to his heart, Zalran’s abilities will continue to grow. To lose the Stone after the forming of such a bond would mean certain doom for Zalran’s soul.

I own lev-2 ZALRAN EFREET, which offers Life Leach and Cleanse abilities.

`Cost Analysis`

Currently there are 4,056 normal foil ZALRAN EFREETs in circulation, costing 2.05$/BCX and 77 Gold Foils in circulation, costing 83$/BCX.

A low cost of just 2.05$/BCX make ZALRAN EFREET a good legendary monster to buy, especially considering the abilities it offers. So it is a monster definitely worth spending your funds onto.

Here is the all time price trend of both Foils ZALRAN EFREET, courtesy SPLINTX. After a recent price slum, its price have gone up; may be because of it's utility in new Noxious Fumes ruleset.

`Favored Battle Rules`

Since the introduction of Noxious Fumes ruleset the importance of ZALRAN EFREET have increased many folds. The Cleanse ability of ZALRAN EFREET removes the Poison buff on the tank.

`Placement`

ZALRAN EFREET like most of the low health magic monsters is best suited in middle back ranks well protected from Sneak and Snipe attacks.

`Complementing Abilities`

ZALRAN EFREET can be complemented well by ARCHMAGE ARIUS, DELWYN DRAGONSCALE and DRAKE OF ARNAK summoners.

As far as abilities are concerned, ZALRAN EFREET can be decently complemented by other monsters. Triumph and Protect abilities can help ZALRAN EFREET survive longer. Healing from Triage ability is also a nice ploy. Blind ability, and Speed related abilities Slow & Swiftness can also make ZALRAN EFREET difficult to target.

`Defense`

The best way to counter ZALRAN EFREET is by using Magic Return ability. It can also be targeted by Opportunity attack monsters.

This was a 28 mana battle with two battle rules, Noxious Fumes and Broken Arrows.

`MY LINEUP`

`MALRIC INFERNO`

Due to low battle mana cap, I decided to go with low mana rare summoners. And due to Noxious Fumes ruleset I went with water splinter, since it offers Cleanse ability monster.

`LORD ARIANTHUS`

Upfront I placed my favorite low cost legendary tank, LORD ARIANTHUS. It's amazing to see abilities it offers at just 5 mana.

`FURIOUS CHICKEN`

On one down position I placed the zero mana FURIOUS CHICKEN. It can serve as a nice attack absorber.

`ELEMENTAL PHOENIX`

Next came another legendary, ELEMENTAL PHOENIX. It heavy magic attack with Blast comes pretty handy.

`ZALRAN EFREET`

Next came the star of the show, ZALRAN EFREET. It was used because its Cleanse ability comes pretty handy in Noxious Fumes ruleset.

`SERPENTINE SPY`

Time for introducing Opportunity attack into the battle. So I used SERPENTINE SPY. God I wish it have had Scavenger ability.

`TORTISIAN CHIEF`

On very last I placed the TORTISIAN CHIEF. I love its healing ability and being a neutral monster it can act as a nice back up healer.

`BATTLE ANALYSIS`

This battle was almost lost and in the end I had no attack monster left. But Cleanse from ZALRAN EFREET came in handy and helped my tank survive the Noxious Fumes ruleset. If it wasn't for ZALRAN EFREET, I would have had lost the battle.
