Newbie Guide: Invest on neutral units

(Edited)

Hi

I would like share on what i know for newbies on what card that you need to invest with less than 5$ on hand.

So why on Neutral cards? because neutral cards can be used on whatever summoner that you are using every battle (exception to some rules that restricts neutral cards to be used). By investing first with neutral cards, it gives you wider option to choose from on whatever summoner that you will used per battle. here are some of the cards i would strongly recommend:

Tank: go for Goblin Mech: 0.47$ current selling price on the market at lvl 1

For a lvl 1, it has a base melee damage of 4 with piercing ability that can easily tear basic units with it. It also has 5 armor that can sustained heavy damage from 1 or 2 damages with 6 health that can last for rounds. It is also wise to ivest on him up to lvl 5 which will increase its damage to 5 melee damage. very cheap and easy to use.

Must Have Unit: Furious Chicken: 3.75$ current selling price on the market at lvl1
image.png
Yup, this angry little chicken is a must buy unit. For a casting cost of 0, it works pretty well on teams whenever you already consumed the capacity of your deployment. You can place this card anywhere, it can be a attack shield either in front, back or mid( it can also increase damage and additional buffs depending on the special rulings per round). A definitely must buy unit for me and the prices of these chickens are getting higher as time goes by. So grab on to them chickens while the prices isn't that high yet.

**1Cost card: Creping Ooze :0.44$ current price on the market at lvl1 **
image.png
a 1 cost unit that gives a -1 speed for your opponent. a cheap casting cost unit that can be placed anywhere, almost same as the Furious Chicken but with an additional -1 speed aura to opponents.

Heavy damage on the back rows: Sand worm: 0.31$ current price on the market at lvl1
image.png
These spice producing worms can give a whooping 5melee damage that most likely eliminates units from the back row position. though the casting cost is a bit heavy, it also makes it up with a higher success to eliminate a backrow unit per round. It can gain an additional +1 melee damage at lvl 4 and can be deployed on the mid or backrow with a decent amount of health that it can sustain from damages. Talk about cheap, yet destructive.

Mid position: Elven Cutthroat:

a 3 cost unit that can sneak attack units at the back row of your opponent. as you work your way in ranks, you can upgrade its melee damage to 2 at lvl 5. again, also cheap and easy to use. I would recommend to position it in the middle to avoid getting sneaked attack by your opponent as well.

There are also better neutral units such as, Halfling alchemist, Hydra, Cornelius, Lord Arianthus to name a few but those units are quite expensive but would definitely recommend if you have enough money to invest on such cards.

I will provide more information and updates as i share my progress with this wonderful world of @Splinterlands

So stay tuned!

Nice post!
Definitely agree with your picks, only the elven cutthroat is a card that I have never used much, maybe I should try him out more often!

elven cutthroat is good once it reach lvl 5 brother. for me, it gives a huge impact for a 3cost sneak attack with 2 melee damage

Ah I see, I'm still limited to lvl 4 common monsters for now.
I'll try him out once I can use him as a level 5!

Those are pretty much the first cards that I bought when I started playing SL.

The only one I'm not really into is the Elven Cutthroat. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

I don't really know why, but I haven't played the Sand Worm much, but I'll change that.

the elven cutthroat would do better when it's lvl5 since the melee damage will change into 2 melee damage. for sand worm, it more likely kills squishy units from the back since it has a whooping 5melee damage
