Splinterlands Sunday!: Investing for Top 50!

It seems that every Season end gets more intense as more implications are put on the line for achieving a top spot on the leaderboards as well as getting into a high Division. The addition of Guilds this season also added another layer into the thought process as a Guilds progression can also depend on the amount of daily quests they can achieve as a team. As the end of the Season drew closer, it was tougher to complete Daily Quests if not with the more favored Splinters. Some could not complete a Daily Quest in the last three days in order to secure a spot on the Top 50 list. However, I was lucky to get some good Splinters to use for mine as well as being able to get deep into the Top 50 earlier than usual which allowed me to play to remain in it.

I was actually Top 25 with a little more than two days left as I reach 5,000 ranked points for only the second time ever. I could not even believe it as I was above a number of players that I could never beat one on one and much less place better than them as many have been as high as Top 10! After a couple of good seasons I decided to really get into a deeper competitive collection as most of my Summoners were never max level which allows for higher level cards on the team. Over the last two seasons I have maxed a number of Summoners which have helped me have stronger teams as many of my Reward Edition Cards have also been able to achieve max level. This is a great example of how the game is setup to allow players to progress as they play more. With the exception of a Legendary Card, I have not purchased any Reward Edition Cards so they have mostly been earned. I also now find myself with extras which I have not considered what to do with as I could rent them or sell them to help fund more purchases which I intend to keep doing.

I continue to default to the @peakmonsters marketplace as I enjoy their interface and have now been using their bid system which allows you to put some bids for cards you need to accumulate. I have already lost count as to the amount of resources I have put into my collection as it has not only been Steem and SBD but also USD as I have been engaging with the community on Discord to even buy some cards via PayPal! I know I may have overpaid on a couple especially considering fees but I had some funds parked there so I am ok as the purchases have definitely come through this last season. This has really made me realize how the game and the community has really expanded as it continues to find ways to grow and build these marketplaces for players to really build a great collection.

I was also able to find another Discord server that has some interesting features that include notifications for low priced cards on the market as well as a marketplace for themselves and the community. I actually tried one for the last Prince Rennyn I needed and worked pretty well. Now, I almost immediately check all these places before playing to see if there are any good deals on the market as the market capitalization of the cards in circulation continue to grow and the number of players also grows. We are now seeing that the Beta booster packs are under 20% left in supply so this could lead to even higher pricing which has made me continue to be aggressive to get the cards I need for my play style. While I have not purchased Booster packs in a while, I will probably do so this week to not only have the fun of opening some up, but also hold some for the future as they grow in value like the Alpha packs have.

This effort has translated into my second Top 50 placement (40th) ever with 5,171 ranked points which is the highest I have ever achieved. The last morning of the Season I actually fell down to about 60th as I was battling through my Daily Quest with the Life Splinter. However, I quickly decided to focus on the wins instead of the Daily Quest which helped me string a couple of win streaks. I was happy to see me be able to incorporate the Life Splinter as well which allowed me to both complete the Daily Quest and get back to the 33rd place before stopping play in hopes I could hold it. I started to watch the leaderboard for the rest of the day and was happy to see it hold until the end of the season for my 150 Reward Edition Cards! There was no real exciting cards but a couple more of the collection has been maxed out thanks to these! Looking forward to a new Season and more Splinterlands!
