Splinterlands Sunday!: What an Amazing Season!

It has almost been a week already but the last Season of Splinterlands was one full of challenges and opportunities for the community. I am proud to say that I was able to take advantage of some downtime in my life to play more actively during the Season and compete to remain in the higher levels of the Ranked players in the community. I would play up to three times a day for about an hour at a time to focus on ranking up and optimizing my DEC gains while also carefully completing my Daily Quests. It seems that many others did the same as results shared by developers demonstrated that battles and transactions spiked to new all time highs towards the end of the Season. The effort was worth it as here is a spoiler of one of the rewards I received.

It was a particularly rough season as only the Top 40 ranked players actually got into Champions Division I! I do not remember when the threshold was that low but surely remember having over 5,000 ranked points and not being in the Top 50 myself! It was fun to compete and focus on achieving Champions Division I as the 20 additional Reward Edition cards are in high demand given the amount of new cards available. Also, trying to remain in the top of the Leaderboards always gets me nervous as I never stop knowing when to stop playing.

I actually got as high as 15th during the Season but I did not let this alter my approach as it has happened to me in the past but ultimately have missed out on Top 50 for a number of consecutive Seasons (I have already lost count). I think that the addition of the Untamed Edition cards as well as the new Reward Edition cards are having an impact on player strategies. However, it has been fun to discover how they are being played and competing with the community.

With about 3 hours left in the Season I started to play being about 150 points off of Champion Division I. This was my main goal for the Season and it was very challenging as win streaks were very difficult to come by given the amount of players that continue to join the community with new strategies and cards. However, I was lucky enough to get a good streak at the end to finish above 4,700 ranked points! When I got there and claimed my Daily Quest Reward cards, I decided to peak over at the Leaderboard. I was shocked to see me sitting at 24th with a little under 2 hours left in the Season. I decided to call it a night and wait for the results anxiously.

When the Season ended, I was excited to see myself still in the Top 50! It was the first time in a while and the first time accomplishing it when Untamed packs were the rewards for the placement. It was great to see the 10 Untamed packs to come over as I have been thinking of opening a few more for some cards I still need to max out. However, I still am waiting as I want to see how I can improve on my affiliate rewards first.

The grind last season was well worth it as being 30th is now the highest I have ever ended a Season! It also tells me that I can still compete although my placement in tournaments as of late has been signaling the same thoughts. However, as I have mentioned in the past, those are the ups and downs we all face in an ever evolving game and community like Splinterlands. I continue to be encouraged on the future as it is still growing with metrics that continue to impress me.
