Hi!

Jenkki is the name of the popular Finnish chewing gum that contains Xylitol. Wikipedia mentions that it can be found naturally in some fruits, but we Finns know it almost unequivocally as birch sugar ("koivusokeri") as it is often created as a byproduct from wood industry.

It is used as a sugar substitute in different food products, and I noticed it has lately been used even in some skin creams and lotions.

Xylitol is toxic to dogs, as it can cause hypoglycemia in relatively small doses. (So if you use xylitol as a sugar substitute, don't let your dog eat the same stuff you eat. Also, if your skin care products contain xylitol, be adviced that it may not be healthy to let your dog lick it off your skin.)

@gamer00,
Is it flavor like Mint? I have seen this shape of chewing gum before, but have no idea what it was.

Cheers~

They actually have many different flavours, mint, or rather "spearmint" being one, but I believe these ones were called "ice menthol". It's a very cool sensation in the mouth.

I thought xylitol is also toxic for people, only natural Xylitol is safe but it’s very expensive. So, producers use chemical substance instead of natural one.
