La árida superficie quemaba las manos y pies del escalador aun con sus guantes y botas especiales, Pero Dan debía estar concentrado en seguir escalando, no podía permitirse ningún error, las rocas se deslizaban con facilidad y los Imps sobrevolaban alrededor, si esos engendros lo descubrían estaría perdido.

Subir la montaña fundida no es tarea fácil, pero Dan estaba dispuesto a hacer lo que fuese por recuperar su rebaño —si es que aun quedaba algo—, el Giant Roc había atacado por la madrugada secuestrando cabras y ovejas y llevándolas posiblemente a su nido en la cima de la montaña.

—No te preocupes recuperare nuestro rebaño —fueron las palabras con las que se despidió de su familia.

—Por favor ten mucho cuidado —le dijo su esposa

—No vayas papa, olvida el rebaño —decía su pequeño hijo con lágrimas en sus ojos, pero Dan no podía permitirse perder el rebaño, su vida y la de su familia dependen de él.

Haciendo un gran esfuerzo llegó a la cima de la montaña fundida y se llevo una grata sorpresa cuando encontró con vida a la mayoría del rebaño, estaban encerrados en una especie de nido.

Dan se dispuso a liberar los animales, pero un estruendoso chirrido lo previno del peligro que se avecinaba, el Giant Roc se interpuso en su camino, evitando que pudiese llegar hasta el nido.

—Debo encontrar la forma de burlar a esta ave gigante —se dijo a si mismo, pero no era capaz de idear ningún plan.

"Please be very careful" said his wife.

"Don't go dad, forget the flock" said his little son with tears in his eyes, but Dan couldn't afford to lose the flock, his life and that of his family depend on it.

With great effort he reached the top of the molten mountain and was pleasantly surprised when he found the majority of the flock alive, they were enclosed in a kind of nest.

Dan set out to free the animals, but a thunderous screech prevented him from the danger ahead, the Giant Roc stood in his way, preventing him from reaching the nest.

"I must find a way to outwit this giant bird," he said to himself, but was unable to devise any plan.
