I finally bought a few packs (well, 10 to be precise...) of BETA cards last night.... It's been something that I've been meaning to do for a while (I don't think I've bought any packs since the early days of the game... well... my early days, from when the Beta packs had started, so no Alphas...). I picked up ten packs, paying with PalPal... paying with crypto at the moment is a bit undesirable as the price of coins and tokens are pretty depressed.

It was actually a really nice experience to have a bunch of packs to open one after the other... really takes you back to the days of being a kid and opening up physical card packs! Anyway, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the draws that I got... there were a bunch of summoners (which aren't so much use to me... I've set myself a disciplined summoner cap of level 6 to prevent spending too much money, this means that I'm also limited the levels of the monsters as well... after all, I enjoy the game... but I'm not going to drop lots and lots of money into it!).... and also a couple of gold foil cards as well as a decent number of commons which are actually quite valuable to me as I'm trying to get the commons up to Level 8!

I think I might do this every now and then... it is really quite a fun thing to do... buying, and then opening with the pack opening cinematic being pretty damn cool!... Perhaps with some of the earnings from STEEM posting... it would be nice to try and get a new pack once a week, not too much of drain... and who knows, I might get lucky!

So, this particular pack was quite a decent draw. A Gold Foil Medusa which is around the same level as my regular one... so, it's a bonus to the DEC reward for winning without any extra effort when I'm playing the Blue Splinter! The Epic Magi of the Forest is a cool card... but at level 1, it's pretty useless.... I guess I should investigate whether or not it worth levelling it up a level or two. I see him appear in opponent teams and it usually ends pretty badly for me!

... and another Gold Foil! This time, the Black Splinter's Undead Priest! This is a card that I play quite often... well, pretty much every match with the Death Splinter... so, the Gold Foil is more than welcome!

The rest of the cards in the draw don't seem impressive... but keep in mind that I'm trying to boost my commons up to level 8... and that does require quite a few cards! Every card that I draw is one less that I have to buy! On the other hand, buying does make for a more accurate targeting of the actual cards that I need and want to level up.... but then again, nothing beats the surprise and suspense of opening a card pack!

Xia Seachan is a 2 Mana Epic Blue Splinter Summoner.... to be perfectly honest, I've never really seen the utility in these guys... the loss of the summoner skill is just not worth the extra single mana to distribute to your team of monsters. Perhaps someone can set me straight... but at the moment, it is straight onto the market with this summoner.

Actually all the rares that are surrounding the Summoner are much much more valuable to me! It's getting a bit more pricey to boost my existing beta cards... and they are the sorts of cards that I play most often!

... in a similar way, I have absolutely no use for Kiara Lightbringer. A White Splinter Epic Summoner... again, the loss of the summoner skill is not worth the extra mana. I really wonder if anyone really ever bothers to play these guys... I don't think I've ever seen it in opposing teams. So, another summoner for the market!

I did pick up quite a few summoners... but I only need the Blue Summoner at the moment (unfortunately, that is also the most expensive on the market). All my other summoners have hit my self imposed level 6 cap... and most of my rare monsters have hit their level 6 cap (for me...), so a lot of these cards are going straight on the market. It is the age old idea of things being only valuable to someone who actually has some utility for it... in my case, I'm finding that I need and want common monsters at the moment... to boost my existing cards up to level 8. Past that... I don't know... I don't have the ability to get into the Championship tiers... and I'm pretty chufffed if I reach Diamond. I can reliably finish in Gold 1, and as a casual player... I think I'm more than happy with that!

So, some decent cards for the evening's draw... maybe I'm make a habit of picking up a card pack here and there!
