World Water Day was proposed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from June 3-14, 1992. Of which, the United Nations General Assembly adopted on June 22. December 1992 resolution A / RES / 47/1931 which declared March 22 of each year as World Water Day. They were invited to participate in activities related to the conservation, development and good use of water resources, appealing to the implementation of the recommendations of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development contained in Chapter 18 ( Fresh Water Resources) of Agenda 21.
Water is an essential element of sustainable development. It promotes the well-being of the population and inclusive growth, and has a positive impact on human life by influencing issues that affect food and energy security, health and the environment.
