Splinterlands | War Chaang - The Hellaphant

avatar

Hey all,

I'm there with a brand new Splinterlands battle. Before diving into the weekly challenge, I want to share my opinion about the new update.

Well, before the update, I was able to become Champion X in seasons by using my level 1 cards. However, now I'm not capable of becoming a Champ, even a Daimond player 😛, with my existing Power points.

Actually I'm not sad because I have no longer a chance to battle in higher leagues. The new update made both the cards and DEC more precious and I appreciate the developers' effort to make the game better every single update. Currently, I earn less but I'm a long term Splinterlands player; I'll eventually grow my deck and this update brings me opportunities to grow my deck earlier.

In my opinion, Splinterlands is still a hidden gem for Blockchain based games even though we already have many players from all around the world. Both the update and the developments will provide far better days for all of us 😎

What about the battle? Let's check it 😌

The ruleset.PNG

The ruleset is incredibly suitable for me to use War Chaang as one of the last cards in my deck because it has both 1 ranged damage and 2 melee attack power to be used.

As the ruleset has the sneak ability, I designed my deck based on melee attack and increased the melee attack power of my warriors +1 by using Silvershield Knight.

Everything went smooth and I won the battle as I expected 😌

Tyrus Paladium_lv1.png

Why did I choose Tyrus Paladium? It's because it gives +1 armor and I wanted to balance my attack and defense parameters equally. The other option that I considered was to decrease Melee attack of my opponents' warriors but I wanted to use Life team for this battle. So, +1 armor provided at least 2 damage to be dealt for my deck unless the opponent cards have piercing ability.

Armorsmith_lv1.png

I love using Armorsmith when I assume that my opponent will use melee and ranged attack types against me. So, even though the card has no attack ability at level 1, it provided me opportunities to protect the health points of my warriors. He did his best, I owe my thanks to him 😎

Cocatrice_lv1.png

The primary reason why I used Cocatrise was to deal more damage with a low mana cost melee attacker. As I was planning to use Silvershield Knight, 1 + 1 melee attack with 3 point speed attracted my attention and I used it for offensive purposes. As I was already thinking about using Armorsmith for protection, I assumed that Cocatrice can bear 2 attacks at least.

In general, Silvershield Knigt + Low mana melee attackers provide me the mobility to use high mana cap other cards with distinctive features.

Silvershield Knight_lv1.png

Silvershield Knight was one of the most necessary cards in this composition thanks to its Inspire ability. The card is both fast and beneficial for other melee attackers. I use the card in the middle of the deck to protect in general. As one of the rules was the Sneak ability, I did not want to risk it and I protected the card with other melee attackers for further damage.

Silvershield Paladin_lv1.png

Silvershield Paladin was there to absorb melee and ranged attacks so that the others destroy the opponent cards starting from the last card in the deck. As it has a unique ability to endure more damages, I preferred to use it in the first position. However, sometimes I use it as the last card of the deck when the rule is Sneak ability. This time War Chaang was there for a more offensive purpose 😌

War Chaang_lv1.png

War Chaang has both melee and ranged attack abilities. In general, it was a better idea to use the card in the second position. However, this time things were reversed. So, I wanted to utilize its Retaliate ability.

As it has 1 ranged attack and 2 melee attack power, I got 3 damages from this card. But, with the Inspire ability, the number of the damage increased to 4 and with 3 speed points, War Chaang itself destroyed the enemy deck 😎

As I expected, I utilized its Retaliate ability and Armorsmith helped it to stay alive against any possible deadly damage.

Furious Chicken_lv1.png

I always sacrifice my chicken either as the first card of the deck or as the last one if the ruleset has Sneak ability. So, as usual, it was killed with a deadly damage at the early stages of the fight. I wanted to make sure that War Chaang will get less damage as I was planning to destroy at least one of the warriors positioned at the back lines of my opponent's deck.

Rationale Behind

Although I give importance to balance my team in terms of attack types, this time I behaved courageously and based my team on barely melee attack. The reason why I did it was mostly related to +1 melee attack coming from Inspire ability. So, melee attack + armor protection were the key points of my strategy.

Moreover, low-high mana cap warriors were chosen in terms of their abilities. I did not want to use warriors with high mana and rely on them. It was a better option for me to use low ones and armor protection.

Please watch my battle and share your opinion.
I'm open for your suggestions.
