Splinterlands My road to Silver & ($0.75) well spent / (my new $250 Card)

Around 8 months ago I Began posting to Hive and playing splinterlands, when I first started I couldn't win matches to save my life a Daily challenge seemed insurmountable. Little by little I began slowly amassing my forces (cards) usually by buying them via DEC bought from Hive engine. This was ok at first its the cheapest way to start winning buy a couple ringer cards.

GOBLIN MECH, LIVING LAVA, CREEPING OOZE, & FURIOUS CHICKEN My initial dream team got me through most of bronze rank.

Increased funding

Other than the two plots of land (do those do anything?) because I'm seriously asking I had not really paid all that much for splinterlands the spell book and two plot $30 total felt like to much already. Kept doing daily challenges but didn't spend much on the game.

Crypto brew masters

This game finally gave me the economic shot in the arm from their weakly challenges paying out HIVE. once I had more money than I knew what to do with I started exploring less conventional investments.

Spending my winnings on splinterlands

Bought to many packs of cards this way and eventually I decided to focus on the potion shop not that long ago. At this point my game Power was just over 16,000 deciding if the potions where or where not worth the money has to be my best idea ever.

These are quest potions costing 750 DEC or $0.75 they make your daily quest reward 5 chests instead of 1. Going under the assumption 5 is better then 1 I decided to buy these for a week and see if the rewards generated where worth the 750 DEC. Frist few days it didn't look to bad but not much to report less than 750 DEC in rewards in other words. Day 4 this happened I generated a pack of cards in the rewards. the next day I got a gold card, finally yesterday I got this

Almo Cambio has a value of $250 or 50,000 DEC

ALMO CAMBIO Lore

It oozed into the Mount Mox arena as a puddle through one of the drains in the outer walkway. It then took the form of a Gloridax Guard and watched with intent curiosity as the next pair of summoners entered the tournament grounds and began ritualistically summoning their monsters. Then with a breeze, it assumed the shape of an Air Elemental and joined the battle in progress, which made the scoremasters think that Tyrus had performed an illegal resurrection. Once it realized it was the subject of a heated argument, it turned into a small beetle, which was nearly crushed under a falling Serpentine as it made its way to the outer edge of the battle ground, where it inhabited the form of a lamp-lighting servant. When the Lord of Darkness entered the arena, the thing became jealous and took on a monstrous form so large that even the Lord of Darkness became lost in its shadow. From then on, no one could deny that a powerful unknown monster had joined their midst. Its name was Almo Cambio.

Almo is drawn to the arena, never wanting to leave and always watching each battle with keen interest through whichever eyes it has at the moment. Once it became more comfortable around the people of Mount Mox, it began occasionally revealing its true form to others. Almo wears an absurd smile at all times and revels in pleasant conversation with anyone who will indulge it. It seems however to have no voice of its own, but merely mimics the voice of anyone to whom it is speaking. Almo’s good will and friendliness is often mistrusted, especially because of the way it consistently obliterates its competitors on the battlefield when summoned.

Todays rewards

While not $250 in value I was happy

2 packs of cards and another gold card

EFREET ELDER Lore

Efreet Elders carry a vast array of mystical secrets and spells that were gifted to them in ancient times by Mishna, Mitreyya’s steward who resides in the Burning Lands deep. The most impressive of these is called the envelation of flame. With this spell, which is simple for the Elders but endlessly complex for anyone who does not know the secrets, the castor is entirely enveloped in fire for a short time. This spell is strikingly similar to the natural skills of famed summoner Malric Inferno, who can convert any part of his body to fire, bringing out the part of him that summons with ease the most powerful monsters of flame.

While the Efreet Elders’ council is often sought by those wishing to learn some secrets of their sorcery, the secrets are only shared with the worthy and the old. It is becoming exceedingly rare to find anyone among the Efreet clans that possess both of these qualities.
Side note the Efreet is my favorite character in heroes of might and magic, to me many of the characters seem to occur in both because they are based on mythology. As well as Magic the gathering yu gi oh oblivion wow and diablo all share some of their characters lore and there are far more to add to this list this is one reason I like splinterlands. While distinctly its own franchise it feels like splinterlands pays homage to those that came before in its genre and medium.

Gold collection

119 cards and two plots as well as a totem but again I dont know what they are used for. Recently I have been combining cards as well I recommend it to anyone with doubles. It seems more worth while then burning but I may be wrong
image.png
See the gold and the common card are both level 3 and have the same stats when not nerfed by rules. simply click on the card with multiples to get to this menu.
image.png
select the cards that you wish to combine and click the circled area on the image above as long as you own the cards they will combine.

Conclusion

I know these tips seem basic but read the rules understand the symbols and consider buying potions I guarantee I have not spent as much as I could sell the one $250 card for. I even bought a coffee mug

image.png
Now my power is 68,240 in splinterlands and I'm in silver 3

I would say that the $0.75 price tag is more than fair quest potions ere available in the potion shop accessible via the shop tab in game. Splinterlands takes time and effort I happen to think its the only real contender for mainstream adoption of blockchain gaming. Given the google play app and the gas fees on the ETH block chain its a project I wanted to keep an eye on anyway. Now better believe I dont miss a day.

Not playing splinterlands yet inexplicably reading about it for some reason? First congrats your interesting and second here are a few referrals for the games I play on Hive.
