Introduction

Hey fellow summoners,

Today Carrie is making us demonstrate the power of one of my favorite death monsters, The Soulstorm. The Soulstorm is weak in health but absolutely makes up for it in Speed, Attack, and Abilties. The Soulstorm is a death monster meaning it can only be used by Contessa,Mimosa, Zintar, Jarlax, or Cryptmancer. Welcome to this week's

SOULSTORM WEEKLY CHALLENGE!

Card Levels

image.png

Soul Storm starts off at level 1 super strong already. 3 ranged attack complimenting its 5 speed makes it kind of like the death team's spark pixie, fast, hard to hit, and a heavy hitter. It doesn't improve too much stat-wise, only gaining 1 more attack and 1 health, but it gains a LOT of useful abilities such as Snare, Headwinds, and Stun! These abilities make Soulstorm unique and different from its fire counterpart, giving it a suitable role in the debuff death team.

Ruleset

image.png

It is Armor-Up meaning every monster gains an additional 2 armor and it is a 99 mana cap, meaning infinite mana. I love this mana cap since it allows for bizarre setups and experimentation.

Summoners and Monsters

Mimosa

image.png

This 7 mana summoner is a complete beast and essential to a good death team. She debuff the enemy by -1 ranged attack and giving them affliction. She also gives all friendly monsters Void which is super important since death debuff monsters are usually weak to magic reflect monsters.

Dark Ha'on

image.png

This kitty is an awesome death tank, drawing all hits towards it with its taunt and letting my squishy debuff monsters do their job and destroying my opponent. I also find its scavenge and magic reflect super useful.

Corrupt Pegasus

image.png

Corrupt Pegasus is the sole healer of the death team and its job is to keep my Dark Ha'on alive and do some damage. Its health also lets it tank some blast damage if that comes.

Eleven Mystic

image.png

Here as a third tank or a tank against snipe if dar ha'on falls but by that time, I am already dead. Its main purpose though is to use its silence ability to debuff pesky magic attacks.

Fallen Specter

image.png

Main debuff troop, Fallen Specter can Demoralize, Headwinds, and Blind. Its only weakness is reflect magic which is why having Void on it is so important.

Soulstorm

image.png

The monster of the week, soulstorm is here to provide another headwinds and is a HUGE damage dealer of my team. It can also stun which is super helpful.

Death Elemental

Another silenced monster which also has snipe and weaken. Really cool monster which has a reflect magic weakness that Mimosa helps with.

Battle Analysis

You can follow the battle here: https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=b5f1ce0f484074b9d8f73b62259ef92eda9b7455

Turn 1

image.png

oh wow, looks my opponent is going with the usual magic and ranged team, after the debuff, it looks like this:

image.png

As you can see, everything my opponent has except his stone golem has only 1 attack left 🤣. Needless to say, this was an easy battle. Lots of magic reflect here and I am glad my Mimosa gave Void to all my monsters since it protected my debuff monsters.
I didn't manage to do much damage this round but my opponent barely scratched me. My goal with this death team is to slowly destroy my opponent using dark ha'on, pegasus, and Soulstorm.

Turn 2

image.png

I managed to kill his stone golem this turn thanks to my dark ha'on, pegasus, and soulstorm. Again, barely any damage done to my dark ha'on. This is getting embarrassing for my opponent.

Turn 3

image.png

His mushroom seer finally gets a poison off my dark ha'on other than that, nothing eventful happened this round.

Turn 4

image.png

Managed to kill his Woody Nymph and his Prismatic this round with help from my main attackers. Still pretty much no damage to my dark ha'on.

Turn 5

image.png

And in this turn, the Earth elemental gets destroyed. Dark Ha'on is still perfectly fine with health even though it got poisoned.

Turn 6

image.png

The fallen specter managed to do something useful other than debuff and killed the mushroom seer and then my monsters finished off the Javelin Thrower. My Dark Ha'on still undamaged from the battle and my whole team leaves unscathed from the battle.

Conclusion

Soulstorm not only sped up the battle before it went into the fatigue phase but it helped headwinds my opponent's monsters which lowered their attack to 1. Add that with more Headwinds and Silenced and Demoralized, the enemy can't even lift a finger to challenge you. This is what makes soulstorm such an essential part of a death team.

Thank you for reading my post guys and as always, BATTLE ON!

I think the stun is the best part of this card. The real reason to max it.

That was a pretty hardcore beating. 🤣 So many buffs and debuffs!
I LOVE IT!

And I really do love this soulstorm monster. Quite the powerhouse for the Death Splinter.

Great post and play-by-plays!
