SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! SCAVENGER

avatar

Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific skill and on this week's post it is the Scavenger skill. For this challenge, I plan to use the Ant Miners card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster with Scavenger Skill: Ant Miners

Ant Miners is a fire splinter card. As you can see, it has very low stats so it relies more on the skill to survive longer. It has the scavenger ability that adds an HP to itself when any monster dies and the shield ability that reduces physical damage by half.

As a card, I think it isn't exactly a card I would use much in my line up but I think it would be nice in a low mana match. If enough monsters die before it tanks in front, then it should be able to tank a few more hits helping me. As my ant miner is still level 1, it only has 1 HP, 1 speed and 1 attack.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

6-20 rule set.png

The rule set this time is enrage and no ranged monsters. I was left thinking about how to set things properly so I decided to use the fire splinter since I only had 3 different splinter types available. With 50 mana, I think I have plenty of cards that I can use for this match.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Yodin Zaku. I only have a level 1 version of this card but it is also the legendary untamed fire summoner. It is also one of the more expensive summoners due to its high win rate because of its own skills. Yodin Zaku has three different abilities added to all my cards: +1 ranged attack, +1 HP and blast. However I can't use the ranged buff since ranged monsters can't be used but I think the blast and HP will push me over.

My plan is to keep some higher HP monsters in front to tank the hits while the blast damage slowly whittle downs my opponent's side. The ant miner will be in the middle and it should be able to tank a few hits if it doesn't die right away.

Round 1

It doesn't look like things will go great for me because my opponent has opted for a magic build. I am just hoping my blast can slowly take out my opponents monster faster than my first two monsters die. I don't think my final monster will get its last stand ability and there is a decent chance of me losing this match.

Round 2

6-20 round 2.png

Well it doesn't look like things are going well for me but at least I will be able to take out his last monster soon. If my Efreet Elder can't dodge, then I will probably lose him. I was really hoping for him to finish my match if needed using his last stand. Those mages definitely took out a ton of HP off my Living Lava tank.

Round 3

6-20 round 3.png

I was luck as my Fineas Rage and Efreet Elder could of died if they did not dodge. At least I see some chance of winning now since both 3 of my monsters will attack before my opponent has a chance to attack.

Round 4

6-20 round 4.png

I managed to remove the front two monsters on my opponent's side so I am happy. At the same time, my Fineas Rage managed to take all the hits so my other monsters are still untouched including the 8 damage from the opponent's Sand Worm. With what we have remaining, I think I have a great chance of winning assuming I don't miss because my Ant miner should have around 9 HP or so by the time it moves up to the front.

Round 5

6-20 round 5.png

It does look like it will come down to the very end to see the winner. With 6 HP left on ant miner, he should live through the next round but I see troubles since the front monster has magic reflect. This could be troublesome because Serpentine Spy doesn't have much HP and it could cause me to lose.

Round 6

6-20 round 6.png

My Ant Miner did miss but I think this match is over because his tank only has 1 HP and my Efreet Elder has 2 HP. With the blast and the fact that magic attacks can't miss, I will win next turn even if Serpentine Spy and Ant Miner misses. In fact, I did end the match since Serpentine Spy landed its hit.

6-20 conclusion.png

Conclusion

This time around the battle didn't exactly go was I expected because I was not expecting the opponent to have so many magic monsters. In fact, I believe I only won because two attacks early on missed my cards. My ant miner did act as I expected so it ended up tanking towards the end and allowed the rest of my cards to finish up the match.

Actually I think the fact that there were so many misses were because of the increased speed due to enrage rule set. So I think using fast monsters in an enrage match is actually a fairly good strategy. The summoner Yodin Zaku showed how amazing blast is because it easily helped me to whittle down all the HP on my opponent's side.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would of done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
