How to Kill a God: Taking on Kron the Undying in Splinterlands

avatar

Kron the Undying is my favorite card in my Splinterlands collection because of the way he warps the game around him. Kron is giant centaur who leads the Cantauri people of Anumun, one of the major factions in the splinterlands lore. His lore states "Hundreds of years ago, [Kron] discovered a great secret which allowed him to defy death as generations passed before him.". If you've ever found yourself facing a lone Kron on the other side of the battlefield, you know that this is very accurate to what it feels like to fight a high level Kron.

Let's take a look at Krons stats:

The best monsters in Splinterlands often have multiple abilities all working together towards a specific goal and Kron is no different. Between Heal and Devine shield it can be incredibly hard to take the big man down and, at level three, Kron gains Last Stand. A Kron without Last Stand just doesn't feel like a Kron to me.

Last Stand ensures that when Kron is alone on the battlefield he becomes nearly unkillable while also enjoying a huge boost in lethality. Nearly all his stats recieve a major boost and his healing ability becomes supercharged. Many teams simply cant pump out the damage to even get past Krons healing per turn and secure any real chance of winning. Whith Krons now supercharged magic attack (which can target enemies HP under their armor) survival becomes all the more unlikely.

So, how do you do it? Let's take a look:

When I saw the line-up on each side of the battlefield here my heart sank. I did not expect to survive this battle and was expecting to lose my win streak bonus. My lineup is Mylor leadings Flesh Golem, Furious Chicken, Halfling Alchemist, Magi of the Forest, and a Wood Nymph. I love this line-up and often end up playing some variation of it for most lower cost EARTH battles. Each monster plays it's role better than nearly any other card.

I was not surprised to see my break my opponents battle-line and find myself facing a lone Kron. The real MVP here is Halfling Alchemist as far as I'm concerned but every monster played a real part in that. The ability to cut down Krons damage output as soon as he got boosted was able to keep my team alive while Flesh Golem and Magi did the needed damage. I've tried this line-up many different ways and without a card like Magi of the Forest it can have damage issues even with the extra hits from Thorns. I think there is a lot to be learned in this battle and it's a great opportunity to get to know some of the best card in the EARTH splinter.

Whoa! I thought Halfling only cut melee. I even had to check your replay to be sure and sure enough he cut that Kron's magic attack in two! Awesome tip.
