I'm on Splinterlands!

Anddd... I really need to get better at it. 🤣 It took me a little bit of losing before I secured my first victory. 3 losses to be exact.

I'm currently working on my first quest as well. I have to win 5 battles with the Death Splinter to unlock a loot chest.

Not sure what the loot chest is, but I'm ready to find out. Hopefully it's some cards as I currently only own 1 from my starter pack, which was an 'Herbalist' card (see screenshot below). I guess I didn't get too lucky of a draw on my starter pack, eh?

I'm still new to this game and just wanted to share my first victory. Seems like it's something I can have a bit of fun with. If anyone is reading this and not playing, give it a try!

I'm also wondering if anyone has any tips they could offer that might help me out? All I've gathered so far is win battles and complete the quests. Is there more I should be doing?

Death splinter quest using the starter Untamed deck is the hardest out of all available quests. The cards available to you makes winning fights really hard. In my opinion as a starter Untamed deck, there are four types that might be easier: Fire (Living lava as tank), earth (unicorn mustang), neutral and dragon are probably the easiest to win. The next tier in my opinion is light and water. The hardest by far in my opinion is death.

You are given one free quest reset so you can always decide to reset the quest if you wish. All of the above is my opinion.

Yeah I noticed the Death cards are kind of weak compared to others I've used.

you pretty much got the hang of it

win battles - complete quests

HODL the cards - some people are good at trading them though

i started about 40 seasons ago with $20 - now my deck is up to $800

the new stuff coming with lands might be interesting (a little spendy if you're not loaded)

keep playing ;)

Well, Splinterlands is pretty much about winning battles. Be it to try to move up in the ranking, complete the daily quest for rewards, or participate in tournaments. You earn Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) for winning matches, the amount increasing based on your ranking (and some other factors), which can be spent to buy more cards and improve your deck. Daily rewards can be DEC, reward cards (some of which are quite useful), potions (which give you improved percentages of getting something good opening packs), and very rarely a pack.

As a new player, Fire is probably the most straightforward Splinter to play - Living Lava as your tank, Serpentine Spy with sneak, and Fire Elemental + Spark Pixies do solid ranged damage. Earth is also pretty solid with Unicorn Mustang and Goblin Thief. Death is tough with just the starter cards, but can be good when particular rules come up, like Reverse Speed (slower cards go first) and/or Equalizer (all cards have the same health as the highest health card on either team).

The Discord channel for the game is a good resource if you have questions. People there are always willing to help out new players. There's also a solid introductory guide on here: https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@blackheart1/a-guide-to-explore-splinterlands-with-faqs
