Efreet Elder | Another Last Stand Carnage

avatar

Introduction

Some time back, I had spoken about the Efreet Elder's last-stand ability and how I discovered it by chance. But ever since the discovery, I had hardly used the Elder, or even if I used it, the game never allowed triggering the last stand. That was until today.

I was on the verge of defeat, and the Efreet was the last monster standing, and then it happened. It triggered the last stand, and boy, it single-handedly finished off the opponent's monsters. Something that three monsters ahead of the Efreet couldn’t do, the Efreet did it all by itself. That was crazy stuff!

Yeah, that’s the guy. I am so sold on to the idea of using the Efreet in almost all my battles that I will be coming up with a strategy around it. I mean, this card turns the obvious outcome on its head. I was sure to lose, but when the Elder came to the front, the opponent lost, and the Elder still had a lot of health to continue. How does that even happen?

So, let’s take a look at the battle. But before that, how about we spend few seconds on understanding the game, Splinterlands. I am sure it would be useful for most out there.

Let’s go.

What Game is Splinterlands?

Well, it is one of the earliest blockchain-based collectible games. Though I started playing the game relatively late, I should have had gotten going early in hindsight. Anyway, no need to despair. There are so many opportunities no matter when you start.

Games_Splint1_LookFeel.jpg

Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn on the cards. It is one of the most generous games that I have seen where cards, potions, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC. Cryptocurrency) are given out every day to thousands of players for just playing and winning daily quests. And there are tournaments or guilds that you can join.

Just to give you an idea of a few of the uber-expensive cards, take a look at this recent purchase of Prince Julian at USD 3500.

Did you go to the link and see for yourself? I hope you did. And I hope that gives an overview of the game. I just love the game, and those interested can go to Splinterlands’ site and join. If you want a link to join, I will leave one at the end of the article, which you can use.

Efreet Elder | Magician Beyond Par

The Efreet Elder, on first look, is just another magic card with a magic attack of value one, decent speed of three, and loads of health. The best part is that all this comes at a mana cost of six. That also means that the Efreet Elder can get into almost all sizes of battles – low, medium, or high mana cost ones.

But what is not obvious at first glance is the last-stand ability. What’s more is that if the Efreet perishes with even one monster standing, then the ability is not triggered. It happens only and only if it is the last monster left in the battle. And then it goes ballistic.

Let’s take a look.

The Efreet Elder in Battle

Games_EE2_Rule.jpg

The rule in play was a regular one with 21-mana cost. I went in with the Fire Splinter, and the Efreet Elder was a choice with no expectations. I mean, it was a good magic monster but nothing more than that. So, it was a regular battle with regular monsters, with the champions being in the front.

Needless to say, the Efreet Elder was the last one in the lineup. The reason for that was to cover the back of my lineup should there be a sneak-snipe monster in the opponent’s lineup. Boy, was that an inadvertent good choice!

Let’s see the battle.

-------------******-----------------

The Face-Off

Games_EE2_B1.jpg

This is the kind of lineup that spooks me a bit. Both my opponent and I had fire monsters in the lineup. However, the opponent’s dragon summoner was a plus for my opponent as that would give additional armor to all monsters.

The opponent’s lineup had the Living Lava followed by the Serpentine Spy and two ranged attackers. The Fire Elemental with the blast ability is a strong ranged attacker and could take down my monsters behind the Lava. That did not look promising for me.

My lineup almost aped the opponent’s. But with one less of armor, I thought I was in a risky state. I had the Living Lava followed by the Kobold Miner and the Serpentine Spy. The Efreet Elder at the absolute back made up the team. I was pretty sure that the opponent’s Spy would take out my Serpentine Spy. Winning this match was beyond me for sure.

Let’s see.

-------------******-----------------

The Battle Begins

Games_EE2_B2.jpg

Just like I told you, the opponent’s Spy took out my Spy. My Spy was the first to attack, only to take out the armor. Then the opposite Spy took out mine. ☹ I suspect that would be the case with my Kobold Miner as well.

Games_EE2_B3.jpg

I don’t have to talk about what could have happened to the Kobold Miner, but my team was on life support. The Lava was at the health of one while the Efreet Elder had taken an attack too. It was here that I believed that I was gonna lose. Boy, how wrong was I!!

-------------******-----------------

The Battle Races to Conclusion

My Living Lava took the last blow and was out of the battle. And then the surprising thing happened. Take a look at the last screen for Efreet’s stats. And take a look at this screen.

Games_EE2_B4.jpg

Notice that all of the opponent’s monsters are still standing. It is only the Living Lava that has taken some beating. But look at the Efreet. The attack value has doubled, the pace has gained two steps while the health has gone up by four. That is a tremendous last stand statistics up.

Games_EE2_B5.jpg

And that was game over for the opponent! With every strike, the Elder took out one monster and sustained all the attacks. And it continued to stand with the health of three after the total annihilation of the opponent.

That was an unexpected and incredible win!! 😊

Efreet Elder | Last Stand King!

This has opened my eyes to the possibilities of using the Elder as a strategic card in every Fire Splinter game. I mean, you stand to win every game with the Elder. Isn’t that what we are playing for?

That’s my strategic card for some time now. I am sure you would have liked it. Go try it out and enjoy the fun! 😊
