RE: After a few days of playing Splinterlands, here is what I think of the Collection Power update!

As a somewhat new Splinterlands player (been playing since June) I was dismayed by the new system. I had been regularly reaching Champion level through my play, but now due to the size of my deck I am capped at Silver II. No much how much I win, or how high my numerical ranking, my level is seemingly capped at Silver II. This change basically takes the competitive element completely out of the game and ranks you purely on how much you spend.

Most games these days have a, "pay to win" element to some degree. The difference now is that buying more doesn't merely gives you an advantage, but becomes mandatory to avoid a hard cap on your progress. While I have invested a substantial sum of money in Splinterlands to build my deck, with the new system in place I don't foresee myself spending any more. It simply isn't worth spending vast sums of money to essentially buy a higher ranking level. I also don't expect to play nearly as much overall, because there is no goal to attain or challenge to meet. You'll see me out on the battlefield once in a while but, unfortunately, Splinterlands has become much less enticing with this new change.

I agree with you 100%.

With the current leaderboard, there is litterally zero incentive to play once you hit your maximum league level.

Quests are the only reason to play daily.

That is why I am looking forward to the third phase which will rework league rewards and rankings.

I am hoping that will be a positive change for players like you and me.
