Share Your Battle Challenge - Naga Fire Wizard

In this week's Splinterlands Share Your Battle Challenge, we have been tasked to fight a match using Naga Fire Wizard. Naga Fire Wizard is a Rare, Reward monster that belongs to the Fire Splinter and has a strong magic attack combined with high health, the "Shield" ability and a small amount of armor. Just from those stats, it seems like Naga Fire Wizard is quite a strong card, so lets see if it can help us win our match.

Lineup
The ruleset for this match included 23 Mana and no modifications to the standard ruleset. Since Naga Fire Wizard is a Fire monster, I was able to fight with the Fire Splinter which happens to be one of my favorites because I really like the cards that I have in this Splinter.

In first position, I put my favorite first position monster in the game....Living Lava (ok, I like Unicorn Mustang also). Living Lava has a strong attack and good armor that is also combined with the "Shield" ability which means he takes reduced damage from all enemy melee attacks. This makes him a great brawler and a strong first position monster.

In second position, I placed Magma Troll. Normally I would play Fineas Rage in second position, but for this match, Fineas Rage would have cost too much Mana and I wouldn't have been able to put Naga Fire Wizard in the battle. Although I couldn't play Fineas Rage, having Magma Troll in second spot was still a strong choice. Even though Magma Troll isn't as strong as Fineas Rage, he still has the reach ability which allows him to fight from both first and second position.

In third spot, I placed Creeping Ooze. Creeping Ooze is a fantastic monster that only costs 1 Mana but can de-buff the entire enemy team with -1 on their speed. Not only does Creeping Ooze de-buff the enemy team, but for 1 Mana it is a great buffer monster to keep a ranged or magic monster from reaching first position.

In last place, I placed this match's superstar....Naga Fire Wizard. My intention was to allow Naga Fire Wizard to damage the opponent's monsters from the rear of my formation without having to move into first position. Although Naga Fire Wizard does have armor and the "Shield" ability, I still view my magic monsters as best suited to the rear of the formation.

Results
I already had a good feeling going into this match, but when I saw my opponent's lineup, I could already see victory waiting for me. They did play Goblin Mech, which is a very strong monster in first position, but they put a ranged monster in second position. I knew that even though Goblin Mech was a strong monster, all I had to do was knock him out of the fight and their second position monster would be unable to attack once it moved into first spot.

The combination of Living Lava and Magma Troll's melee attacks combined with the strong magic from Naga Fire Wizard made quick work of Goblin Mech, and we were able to carry the victory.

Analysis of Naga Fire Wizard
As soon as I saw the stats for Naga Fire Wizard, I knew this would be one of my new favorite cards. The strong magic attack means that it can deal considerable damage to enemy monsters, and will still be able to deal partial damage to monsters even with the "Void" ability.

On top of that, the armor and "Shield" ability make it a strong monster that can withstand attacks from "Sneak" and "Snipe" melee monsters. In the unfortunate event that Naga Fire Wizard moves into first spot, the Shield and armor will help it resist the enemy much more than many other magic monsters.

Summary
Overall, I really enjoyed getting to try out a new card, and I am really impressed with Naga Fire Wizard. It was quite a bit cheaper than last week's card (Naga Warrior), but I actually like it a bit more and look forward to using it in battle. As always, its great to take part in the challenges and have fun with the Splinterlands community.
