A victory against a superior opponent, because I checked his battle history!
I noticed by opponent had played Mylor with Earth Splinter in the previous several battles, and was expecting the same when I selected this team:
I was right, the fact that Earth was the only Splinter you could choose from in this battle made it even more likely that i wasn't going to have ANY melee attacks in my squad - I mean that way you're just gifting your opponent + 2 damage every round, or more, if you're playing reach, opportunity or sneak as well.
As it stands I won pretty comfortably - thankfully I have a decent selection of non-melee cards with Earth - usually I'd go with the Vulcher in Earthquake, as it has flying, and scavange works better with the higher attrition rate.
However, that would have been nullified by the thorns - so instead I went with only magic and ranged attacks and emphasised shields , triage and repair to neutralise earthquake as far as possible and fell back on the cube strategy - it worked a treat:
The lesson - always check your opponent's battle history, it can come in quite handy, as many players are creatures of habit!

It really does pay off to check what your opponent has done in the last games, giving you an idea about his strategy. I often neglect that!
