My first Foray into the world of Splinterlands

image.png

Ok, I have taken the jump, entered into Splinterlands

I did jump in a while back, but became a bit overwhelmed by it and jumped out pretty quick.

So many people are playing the game and talking about it I thought I would give it another go
So in I went

I can honestly say I am just as confused. It seems a bit Random, get the highest level cards or get your cards to the highest level and try and beat a random opponent of which you do not know what their level of cards ort which team of cards they have chosen.

Al of you seasoned players are probably laughing at this Newbies interpretation at this point, Because I know that there must be more to this than just all this randomness.

I am yet to find a simple guide, and I am sure there is one, the Newbies guide to Splinterlands

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be good.
There must be an opportunity to know which team of cards an opponent is playing so that yo can choose your team wisely.

I have read the FAQ’ and cannot really see anywhere where you can strategise, except for getting higher ranked cards and ranking cards you have.
I cannot imagine that a game that gets so much attention is really that random.

I guess the more I play the more I will find out, people seem so addicted to it that there must be something to it

Oh and 2 days ago I was ranked and now I an unranked lol

Welcome to the crazy world of Splinterlands!
Yeah, it's about as you said...the more you play the more you will find out!
I didn't even read the FAQ lol been poking around and check the little question marks or hoover the cards and rules at the top and try to go for different strategies! Trial and error lol
Having that randomness I think makes the battle fair I guess. Both have the same rules and X amount of mana. You need to plan a battle strategy based on the rules, mana, and the type of cards you have. The basic key is having the melee in front, then magic and archers in the back. If you don't know which type you wanna go, go for the daily quest.
If you need more info there's now a Splinterlands section in CTP Discord 😁

Oh yeah, you need the spellbook to play. It comes with some cards for you to start playing. It is an investment but you can have it back later on with card selling for example. I had some HBD's to spent so was ok for me lol

I am a newbie as well, its my second month of playing it and I'm enjoying it. It wasn't easy for me to be honest. I basically felt like are feeling but I kept paying and reading on posts on here, people post about strategies so I pick up some and just implement.
I think collect cards as much as possible either buying or from rewards, then level up your summoners first before leveling up your monsters, repeat the process with every splinter elements and you will gradually grow stronger into the game.

Best of luck!
