Splinterlands: Those Elusive Diamond Leagues

I must admit that I am not the best player of this game, not by a long shot.
In fact, there are rankings clearly shown beside each player’s name and you can see what level
a player is at at any given point within a fortnightly season.

I’ve never won a tournament, nor have I made it past a second round within a tournament.
The competition is rather fierce.

For the longest time I was stuck in the Silver leagues, up until late last year when I made it to Gold III. Since then I have managed to reach Gold II and occasionally Gold I.

Last time around I was extremely lucky to make it, not only into the Diamond leagues
but in fact Diamond II! Pure insanity!

I can finally show my face at the monthly Adelaide Hive meetings without shame!

I’m kidding; no one actually cares, but it certainly generates some internal pressure to do well with the game with all of the associated bragging rights, etc.

Everyone else at the meetings appears to have reached either the Diamond leagues or Champion leagues, so I still need to “up my game”, so to speak. Chuckle.

I started to struggle a bit, but I really think the key to Splinterlands is a mental perseverance, mixed with knowing when to actually quit playing.

Strategic Quitting

Yeah, I said it! There’s a point where actually not playing the game can be a winning strategy.
For example, if you keep losing match after match, it might mean you’re too tired, need new cards or to look at different playing strategies. You can lose ranking points and levels very quickly if
you aren’t paying attention.

As for mental perseverance, if you are only losing a few matches, it’s worth pressing on until you might get lucky again.

I normally play my daily quests, sometimes waiting a few days and letting them accumulate to really motivate me to drive up the ranks, winning quest after quest for that reward-based legal dopamine / adrenaline hit.

Internal Politics

Somewhere along the line, I was removed as admin from the Official Splinterlands Facebook page.
I wasn’t even aware this had happened until a former member complained that they were also removed from the group. No reason was given and I find this lack of transparency disturbing.
I am, however, still an admin of the new Official Splinterlands Telegram group.

Thank you for reading this. There’s only a few more days until the end of the season.
Where will you end up in the rankings?

Until next time, see you in the Splinterlands!

Keep at it mate, when your loot chests start to multiply, you will find it’s worth the effort.

Yeah, I’m not going to quit anytime soon. The loot chests have given me a few free booster packs!
