My Splinterlands Blog #43 - Second Account and Season Wrap Up!

avatar

Welcome to another weekly update on my attempt to challenge the Splinterlands ranked leagues! Initially it was a self challenge, to see how far I could get with the initial set of cards plus whatever I could win. But, that kind of fell apart around week 30 (with the game integrating with the WAX network and users being able to buy and sell cards on Atomic Hub).

For anyone that missed my other article, I ended up creating a new account to test the rental system. On the bright side, I made it using a referral link to my main account, so I got 500 credits back! Other than that, it was a relatively quiet end to the season.

Since I was away for a lot of this past week, plus decided to try to test the rental system, I didn't really compete for the Silver leaderboard. Not that I've had much success with that in the past. I just moved up to Gold III on the last day for a bigger reward and more season rewards.

Now that I've spoiled the ending, here's my breakdown of the past week:

Daily Quest Rewards:

Daily Quest # 309 - Win 5 with Death.. re-rolled to Win 5 with Snipe. For finishing this daily quest, I received 235 Dark Energy Crystals (DEC - 6 + 39 + 45 + 145).

Daily Quest # 310 - Win 5 with Snipe. For finishing this daily quest, I got 11 DEC; a 10th copy of the common Fire monster card, Charlok Minotaur; a 12th copy of the common Death monster card, Undead Rexx; and a 9th copy of the common Life monster card, Chain Spinner.

Daily Quest # 311 - Win 3 with no Neutral. For completing this daily quest, I got 3 Gold potions and a Legendary potion.

Daily Quest # 312 - Win 3 with no Neutral. For completing this daily quest, I received 2,000 DEC (formerly a pack); a Legendary potion, a 25th copy of the common Fire monster card, Ant Miners; and an 11th copy of the common Fire monster card, Charlok Minotaur.

Daily Quest # 312 - Win 5 with Life. For finishing this daily quest, I received 2 Gold potions, a Legendary potion, and a 10th copy of the common Life monster card, Chain Spinner.

Daily Quest # 313 - Win 5 with Earth. For finishing this daily quest, I got 22 DEC (14 + 8); a 26th copy of the common Fire monster card, Ant Miners; and a 19th copy of the common Fire monster card, Flame Monkey.

Daily Quest # 314 - Win 5 with Death… re-rolled to Win 5 with Sneak. For completing this daily quest, I received a Gold potion; a Legendary potion; a 12th copy of the common Fire monster card, Charlok Minotaur; and a 14th copy of the common Earth monster card, Nectar Queen.

Daily Quest # 315 - Win 5 with Life… re-rolled to Win 5 with Sneak. For finishing this final daily quest in Gold III, I received 18 DEC (12 + 6); a Legendary potion; an 11th copy of the common Life monster card, Chain Spinner; and a 25th copy of the common Water monster card, Wave Runner.

With so many potions, I went ahead and opened packs 16 and 17 out of the 50 I had gotten months ago.

A third copy of Kron The Undying, and the first I got from a pack, made this one of the best packs I have opened yet.
While two rares is nice, this was disappointing after the Legendary card.

Tournaments:

Thursday Bronze Blunderbuss, no legendary cards, Untamed set only tournament: I went 10-1 the first day, starting off well. But, with stiffer competition on the second day, I ended up finishing 16-6 to come in 21st place for 200 DEC.

Sunday Bronze Blunderbuss, no legendary cards, all sets tournament: I went undefeated the first day, going 11-0. I picked up a few losses on day two, to finish 18-4 coming in 13th place for 500 DEC.

Guild Brawls:

Guild Brawl #21, playing Gold foil Bronze, Untamed set only. I had one opponent this brawl. This one is worth a watch, in my opinion, as the more expensive cards didn't win. I forgot to write down how the guild finished, but probably in third place since we've been doing that quite a bit of late.

Vs KINGJUNO of Team Possible Hackers

Guild Brawl #22, playing Gold foil Bronze, Untamed set only. I once again had no opponents, and the guild finished in third place.

The Rest:

Card prices continue to rocket skywards, spurred on by both cards being bought to then rent out, as well as continuing FOMO about the dwindling available cards on the market. I expect there's a lot of speculation going on as well, with people buying cards and then immediately relisting them at a higher price. Either way, actually owning a Splinterlands set of cards is becoming increasingly expensive, with renting seeming to be the way the game is going to be available to newer players.

I haven't done much trading, or put anything up for rent yet. My previously mentioned renting experiment took up most of my free time, aside from just playing the game. I should probably put up some of my extra legendary cards, if I'm not going to combine them. Well, I should probably delegate a few to my new account to make it easier to play as well.

My season rewards were quite nice, with a lot of bigger DEC amounts.
My final standing after hopping into Gold III.

For the upcoming season, I need to figure out what I'm doing with my second account. It's already fairly time consuming trying to keep up with just one! I also need to figure out if I want to try to beef up my Silver deck with renting to make it more competitive, or just keep farming rewards while waiting for Chaos Legion.

That's about it for this week! Thank you for reading and if you have any comments, suggestions, or feedback please let me know in the comments below! I’ll be back next week with the season wrap up!
