Subtropical Rainforest Area - My Submission to SlowSundayGames Competition #11 | Area/Monster Design
Hello, everyone.
Above is my concept area for Unsung Hero, the Subtropical Rainforest area.
I constructed it by taking small details from two old paintings of New Zealand - one by Jenny Wimperis from 1883 and one by Charles Blomfield from 1892. I took the images from an art book I own using my phone camera, one of trees and one of grass. I zoomed these in and blurred them a bit. I cut out the tree stump and moved it around. I cut out the bush.
Then I took an existing area for Unsung Hero to get the proportions right, and used the different parts and arranged them to roughly the right shape. Then I eye dropped some colours and added some impressionistic lines to look like vines and to give things better edges. Then I added noise.
The overall effect I'm going for is to look like a subtropical rainforest like the ones that occur here in New Zealand.
I hope you like it.
I've just found out about this game, but I'll definitely keep submitting to these. It looks exciting!
