Splinterlands - Battle Using Splineback Wolf (Weekly Post)

A card that I rarely ever use is Spineback Wolf. Yet I remember when it was still cheap on the open market I went an invested in one of them.

Just for the sake of collecting the card I own it but beyond that I do not use it. Although looking at the stats I should at least plan to level up mine to a level 5 since it gives it a second ability in thorn. This reminds me similar to Sea Monster but not as high of mana and health. Still decent stats.

Battle Using Spineback Wolf

Since I really do not use this card at all and being it at level 4 I struggle to get a win with Spineback Wolf in my lineup. Hence I will spin this a little different for the post. I will be showing a fight where my opponent has a level 5 version of it and how it handled the battle. As the prior image shows the fight was a draw, but how it was a draw maybe very interesting to see.

The match was a 30 mana with a rule set of Noxious Fumes. My formation started out with Clay Golem followed by Silvershield Warrior, Divine Healer, Defender of the Truth, Peacebringer, and close out with Wind Elemental. The focus was really long range attack in magic and range monsters. My opponent with death splinter used Animated Corps, Spineback Wolf, Undead Priest, Dark Enchantress, Haunted Spirit and ending with Twisted Jester. In a similar formation except with Haunted Spirit my opponent focus mostly on long range attacks.

First take comparing formation it seem I had the advantage since Undead Priest and Haunted Spirits could not do any attack damage. However as the battle progress the rule set became a crucial part in creating the match draw.

Round 1

After the first round my opponent's Animated Corpse was knocked out. While my entire formation remained intact.

Round 2

The rule set kicked in at the beginning of the round and it is where I got hurt as my Defender of Truth got knocked out. By the end of round 2 it was down to 4 versus 3 with me having the slight advantage.

Round 3

By end of the third round it was 3 versus 3 and this is where the rule set basically balance the playing field.

Round 4

Looking at the picture above it was prior to the poison to be spread to each monsters and it was at the end of the 4th round did the 2 damage from poison toward each monster basically knocked out my formation and my opponent's formation. This match ended in a draw.

Conclusions

Nothing amazing came out of the match, but it did show the example that the Spineback Wolf more of less was ineffective in battles. As frustrating as it was for me to use it appears to have similar results when it was used against me.

The rule set was painfully obviously a disadvantage for me as toxin go straight to health damage even though I had toughness stats on multiple of my monsters. I would have probably one if at least some of my monsters were higher in level.
