Splinterlands - Defense, Defense, Defense (Weekly Battle Post)
One of the few promo cards common gold foil I has yet to collect prior to end of 2020 is this
Enchanted Defender. Not a monster I would see much of any use beyond melee only battles and or +2 toughness. The card almost appears to be a Furious Chicken in an knight armor suit, lol.
Battle Using Enchanted Defender
The battle below is one where I used Enchanted Defender but lost. The reason behind me using the Defender was mainly because it was a melee only battle. It was also a mana limit battle of 24. The odds were really stacked against me even though I had max level cards, since I was facing a Dragon Jumper. Boy do I need to get myself one of those cards.
Round 1
Of the start it was an exchange of Exploding Dwarfs knockouts. But then Dragon Jumper in combo with Serpentine Spy easily knocked out my Defender. That was that for the Enchanted Defender :( The round ended with me knocking out their Furious Chicken.
Round 2
My Kobold Miner was knocked out by my opponent's Miner. By the end of the round all buy my Molten Orge was alive and my opponent's formation was still intact.
Round 3
An absolute rout was finish with 3 of their four monsters combined together in consecutive attacks to finish off my Ogre.
Conclusions
Looking back I think I needed to apply a higher rarity card beyond the rare of Furious Chicken. The Dragon Jumper was really the deciding factor as to why I lost. Note so much of low health stats but the low melee attack across the board on my side was not enough to create the same amount of damage to my opponent as did theirs. This is a good example that not max monsters will result to certainty in win. This time I came up short but definitely a good lesson to learn from.
