Splinterlands - Grim Reaper Bringing Death? (Weekly Battle Post)

Grim Reaper is one of those reward cards I barely use let alone have higher than a level 1 monster. I have nothing against it but feel there are more important monsters to level up and own versus the Reaper. Little did I know later down the road that this monster is a force to be reckoned with. Below is a battle where I lost to my opponent while he was playing with a Grim Reaper.

Battle Using Grim Reaper

The match was a 44 mana and had rule sets Noxious Fumes and Heavy Hitters. Since the splinters selection were limited and the mana count was in the middle of the range I went with death splinter. Little did I know that my opponent decided on the same splinter and somewhat of the similar monsters used in battle.

Round 1

At the beginning of round up to the last attack my formation held up mostly well but huge loss in Lord Arianthus in my formation was costly.

Round 2

Similar to the first round but this time I took out my opponent's Lord Arianthus. This happened near the closing moves prior to end of round. However right as I took out their LA it did not take long that my opponent knocked out both my Haunting Spirit and Sand Worm. This will likely be the turning point for me in the round as majority of my were knocked out and it was only two rounds.

Round 3

With a 5 on 3 with my opponent having the advantage it was pretty clear I was going to loss. The only question is when will I lost?

Round 4

As bad as rounds 1 and 2 were it was a nice turn around by end of the third round. Noxious Fumes was basically helping me keep the battle winnable. A 3 on 2 was at the start of round 4.

Again Noxious Fumes took most of our monsters out of the match and when it came down to 1 versus 1 my opponent was the clearly going to win as my Octopider had not chance to attack my opponent's Phantom Soilder.

Conclusions

Both my opponent and I had evenly match monsters with a few exceptions. For instance I did not have the stronger Phantom Solider. On the flip side I had a max level summoner which allow me to use max level monsters. Unfortunately not all my monsters were maxed level and since a few of my opponent's monsters was just stronger enough to hold on it is clear that my opponent had the better formation setup.
