Splinterlands - Tips / Tricks for New Comers (Weekly Post)

I think many Splinterlands' fans are already familiar with the recent achievement in regards to benchmarks the game has had in recent weeks. Splinterlands cards net market cap exceeded $10 million within the week. Then there is daily trading of over $20k of cards.

Do we see FOMO or can this be sustained? I would lean toward the latter considering at current activities Splinterlands is at a peak in active users.

Chart above is showing since 2018 game's inception to date the trajectory of new players have been growing steady and my belief it will continue making the demand of the Splinterlands NFT's that much higher pushing prices much higher still.

Best Places to Buy Cards

Since card prices are rising I would like to mention to new comers of the game where they can get cards are a slight discount.

Card Auctionz

Both sites provide 3% cashback on all purchased of Splinterland cards. The cards are the same ones found directly on Splinterlands in game market, but since its a third party website they can offer the cashback. I have used both markets multiple times and can say both work perfectly well and 100% safe. Card Auctionz has an addition benefit where it gives its cashback and added credit in the form of CAC credits that can be used to bid for auctions in the platform. In summary you get the most out of Card Auctionz, but Monstermarkets has been around longer so some users have been sticking with them due to its ease of use and cashback.

League Ratings Matters

Since current market card prices are the cheapest per BCX when they are at the highest level I would like to give a fair warning to new comers to realize what they are buying before they think they are getting a bargain. The reality is level 1 cards are current being sold at much higher prices per BCX than at higher levels, there are reasons for this. One higher level cards are stacked BCXs of the same card at a higher level. However the higher level monsters can not be used unless their respective summoners and in game league are correctly rated. Below is a summary screen shot of monsters limited level use per league rating. This is important to know so that new players that start of in bronze league will not benefit in use of a monster card if the monster level exceeds the limits, example common level 3, rare level 2, epic level 2 and legendary level 1.

In summary make sure what you are purchasing before you actually make the purchases. If you are not in diamond league or champion league there will be no benefit of owning max level summoners and max level monsters as they are limited in the leagues below diamond. This in turn is added expense that is could have been used to purchase more monster cards rather than get a max card that player can not use until they reach a certain league.

Regular or Gold Foil Edition?

image.png

There are a few benefits for obtaining a gold foil version of a card versus the regular but the cost may not outweigh the benefits.

When you use a gold foil version of a card and win in battles each gold foil allows you to earn more DEC in the rewards. In addition it takes less cards to max the summoner/monster if they are the gold version compared to the regular version. However the drawback is gold foil versions are harder to come by so there is a less supply which means higher prices.

It is also worth mentioning Alpha and Promo cards even in regular edition will provide additional DEC rewards for each win when used in battle.

Why Join a Guild?

If you have not joined a guild yet I highly recommend to do so. There are many guilds that are free and others where you have to pay a certain fee to get in. The fees usually consist of DEC in the form of payment and paid weekly or bi-weekly. Typically the higher the fees the higher the guild ranking. Ranking give members benefits in the form of earning more DEC per battle win and bigger discounts for in game purchases. Chart below gives a summary of the benefits.
