Feedback to the Splinterlands updates
Splinterlands had some major updates in the last seasons so this is my take on them from a comitted player's perspective
I think it was almost 2 years ago when I first heard of splinterlands and it was a bit later when I decided to join this game. I didn't really know much about it and it was a bit confusing at first. But the learning curve was not too steep and after some weeks I got the hang of it. Ever since then I have been playing this game occasionally, but steadily. I have invested much more time than money as it was mostly a fun experience.
Since the power level was introduced some weeks back, players have been pushed back by a lot. I used to be able to play in Diamond II league with my deck, but now I am playing in bronze. Bronze?! you might say.. yes! and there is a reason for it which I want to explain here.
Although my card power allowes me to play in silver league I decided to play in bronze for a simple reason: leaderboard rewards. This is a really cool advancement of the game, but there is a huge caveat in my opinion. Since it is much more profitable to "farm" untamed packs than it is to advance to the next league many players are stuck in the lower tier. Why would anybody want to advance to Silver III when one can get untamed packs which are much more valubale than loot chests? The problem as I have found out is that if one advances to the top league of their card deck one does not stand a chance to get into the top 20 leaderboard and earn rewards. This means that the logical/rational decision is to play in a league lower than what you could actually be in.
I have highlighted this in a discussion here and gave feedback to the splinterlands team (as of now there isn't really a solution yet):
Plaiyng in Bronze gives me an actual fighting chance to get some of the leaderboard rewards and it is actually fun again. Playing in Silver I on the other hand is a disincentive for me as I can only get a couple more loot chests. The system currently therefore encourages players to move downward and engage in a lower league. However, this might not be as bad as I thought as it just means that one has to simply adapt to this system; if everybody does it the outcome is kind of the same...
But I suspect that this isn't how it's going to stay and that the splinterlands team will fix this issue. Anyway, by playing in bronze I enjoy the game again as the leaderboard is meaningful for me. What are other people's thoughts/experiences on this? Let me know :)

That's great that you like the new leaderboard system and that it motivates you. I think it is a great addition to the game and makes leagues now actually meaningful.
