Hi Guys, last week we talked about NAGA BRUTE, this week Team @splinterlands offers us a new monster for the weekly Challenge.

I was a little surprised to find this monster in the challenge, it's not very used, but here's what the authors chose for us!

MANTOID

Don't be fooled by this Mantis-like insect.
Despite his slim build and curious behaviours, he can look ugly and nice! :)
It is actually preparing its stomach to devour you completely as sharp blades, hidden between the front legs, tear you apart.

This monster is part of the UNTAMED edition is a common monster of the NEUTRAL element, it attacks its prey from a distance with a RANGED attack.
MANTOID can be used by any element, RULESETS allowing TAKING SIDES, in fact,
does not allow the use of this card as well as ODD ONES OUT which allows you to use only cards with odd mana and BROKEN ARROWS ruleset which does not allow the use of monsters with a RANGED attack.

I have this card in its GOLD version at level 4.
This monster starts with a 2 RANGED attack and can be upgraded up to four at level ten.
Like the attack, the speed starts from two and reaches a maximum of five on a marked card.
At level one he has life 5 and reaches a maximum of seven.

From the first level, he has the SNIPE ability that allows him to attack a monster with a RANGED or MAGIC attack or WITHOUT attack as the first opponent.

At level six the SNARE skill is added, monsters hit to lose the FLYING skill.
The FLYING ability increases the dodging of monsters that possess it and renders the Ruleset EARTHQUAKE helpless.

The characteristics of my level four card allow me to use this monster whenever possible.

ATTACK

MANTOID at level four has attack three which is a good attack for this RANGED card when it hits it hurts and putting it in the back is not that wrong.

LIFE

This cute monster has a medium-high life of five, well-defended this card can overcome multiple turns helping a lot in battle.

SPEED

Even the speed is medium-high, at level four it is three, MANTOID is among the first to attack often and has a good chance of dodging.

** MANA **

The mana cost of six is the only trait that makes me opt for other monsters.

Its high cost and its ability make me prefer other cards of the NEUTRAL element such as WAR CHAANG which costs one more than MANA but has double strike both RANGED and MELEE, has nine of life and has the RETALIATE ability which I consider more useful than SNIPE.
But now enough chatter and we see our dangerous insect in action.

RULESETS

• UNPROTECTED: Monsters have no armour and cannot receive armour from any power.
• CLOSE RANGE: Monsters with a RANGED attack can attack from the front row.
• MANA: 19

DEPLOYMENT:

For this fight, I decided to field the WATER element with my Summoner ALRIC STORMBRINGER of level four and cost in MANA 3.
This Summoner can increase the magical damage of one, of the friend cards, and with its power.

As Tank in the front row, I have deployed SPINEBACK TURTLE level four and cost in MANA 4.
I often use this monster in the front row I consider it very strong, a lot of life, in this case, zero armour but it has a very interesting THORNS ability that returns part of the MELEE damage received to the sender.

In the second position I put one of the strongest cards in the game, in my opinion, RULER OF THE SEAS level two, with dual ability BLAST and SWIFTEESS and a powerful magic attack of three reinforced mostly by my Summoner.

In the third row, I entered our Challenge monster protected by the two cards in the front rows and by the beautiful FURIOUS CHICKEN behind.

My opponent brought in the WATER element like me, "clash of wizards?" NO!
in fact, despite his Summoner the same as mine, he didn't play any cards with the magic attack in his deck. (maybe a mistake?)

In the front row as a Tank, he has entered SEA MONSTER level one very strong monster with a high attack, high life and the HEAL ability that allows him to heal himself every turn.

In the second position he has inserted a level 1 CRUSTACEAN KING healer, this card has the TANK HEAL ability that allows this monster to heal allies in the front row.

My opponent took the field with doctors and nurses in fact in the third row we find another monster with HEAL ability, WATER ELEMENTAL equipped with a RANGED attack.

In the last row, like me, he entered the nice hen FURIOUS CHICKEN.
Two rounds were enough to win the match, the opposing heals were not enough against the power of my cards, and our MANTOID gave the coup de grace by winning the game.

I don't often use this monster, as written above I have preferences for other cards but, when the conditions are right and above all a lot of MANA I like to deploy it in the rear.
His ability is great against any monsters with magic attack and his attack of three hurts when he hits.

Sono rimasto un po sorpreso nel trovare questo mostro in sfida, non è molto usato, ma ecco cosa hanno scelto gli autori per noi!

MANTOID

Non fatevi fregare da questo insetto assomigliante a una Mantide.
Nonostante la sua esile corporatura e i suoi comportamenti curiosi, può sembrare brutto e simpatico!:)
In realtà sta preparando il suo stomaco per potervi divorare completamente mentre lame affilate, nascoste tra le zampe anteriori, vi faranno a pezzi.

Questo mostro fa parte della edizione UNTAMED è un mostro comune dell'elemento NEUTRAL, attacca le sue prede dalla distanza con attacco RANGED.
MANTOID può essere utilizzata da qualsiasi elemento, RULESETS permettendo TAKING SIDES, infatti,
non permette l'utilizzo di questa carta come anche ODD ONES OUT che permette di utilizzare solo carte con mana dispari e BROKEN ARROWS ruleset che non permette l'utilizzo di mostri con attacco RANGED.

Possiedo questa carta nella sua versione ORO a livello 4.
Questo mostro parte con attacco 2 RANGED e può essere potenziato fino a quattro a livello dieci.
Come l'attacco anche la velocità parte da due raggiungendo un massimo di cinque a carta ptenziata.
A livello uno possiede vita 5 e raggiunge un massimo di sette.

Già dal primo livello possiede l'abilità SNIPE che gli permette di attaccare come primo avversario un mostro con attacco RANGED o MAGIC o SENZA attacco.

A livello sei si aggiunge l'abilità SNARE, i mostri colpiti perdono l'abilità FLYING.
L'abilità FLYING aumenta la schivata dei mostri che la possiedono e rende inerme la Ruleset EARTHQUAKE.

Le caratteristice della mia carta di livello quattro mi permettono di utilizzare quando possibile questo mostro.

ATTACCO

MANTOID a livello quattro possiede attacco tre che è un buon attacco per questa carta RANGED, quando picchia fa male e inserirla nelle retrovie non è poi cosi sbagliato.

VITA

Questo simatico mostro possiede vita medio alta di cinque, ben difesa questa carta è in grado di superare più turni aiutando molto in battaglia.

VELOCITà

ANche la velocità è medio alta, a livello quattro è di tre, MANTOID è tra le prime ad attaccare spesso e ha una buona probabilità di schivata.

MANA

Il costo in mana sei è l'unica caratteristica che mi fa optare per altri mostri.

Il suo costo elevato e la sua abilià mi fanno preferire altre carte dell'elemento NEUTRAL come ad esempio WAR CHAANG che costa uno in più di MANA ma ho possiede doppio attacco sia RANGED che MELEE, ha nove di vita e possiede l'abilità RETALIATE che considero più utile di SNIPE.
Ma ora basta chiacchiere e vediamo in azione il nostro pericoloso insetto.

SCHIERAMENTO:

Per questo scontro ho deciso di schierare l'elemento WATER con il mio Summoner ALRIC STORMBRINGER di livello quattroe costo in MANA 3.
Questo Summoner è in grado di aumentare il danno magico di uno, delle carte amich,e con il suo potere.

Come Tank in prima fila ho schierato SPINEBACK TURTLE di livello quattro e costo in MANA 4.
Uso spesso questo mostro in prima fila lo ritengo molto forte, tanta vita, in questo caso zero armatura ma possiede una abilità molto interessante THORNS che restituisce parte del danno MELEE ricevuto al mittente.

In seconda posizione ho messo una delle carte più forti del gioco a mio parere, RULER OF THE SEAS di livello due, con doppia abilità BLAST e SWIFTEESS e un potente attacco magico di tre rinforzato maggiormnete dal mio Summoner.

In terza fila ho iserito il nostro mostro Challenge protetto dalle due carte nelle prime file e dalla bellissima FURIOUS CHICKEN alle spalle.

Il mio avversario ha fatto scendere in campo l'elemento WATER come me, "scontro tra maghi?" NO!
infatti nonostante il suo Summoner uguaele al mio, non ha fatto scendere in campo nessuna carta con attacco magico nel suo mazzo. (forse un errore?)

In prima fila come Tank ha inserito SEA MONSTER di livello uno mostro fortissimo dotato di un elevato attacco, una elevata vita e l'abilità HEAL che gli permette di curarsi a ogni turno.

In seconda posizione ha inserito un curatore CRUSTACEAN KING di livello 1, questa carta possiede l'abilità TANK HEAL che permette a questo mostro di curare gli alleati in prima fila.

Il mio avversario è sceso in campo con medici e infermieri infatti in terza fila troviamo un altro mostro con abilità HEAL, WATER ELEMENTAL dotato di attacco RANGED.

In ultima fila, come me, ha inserito la simpatica gallina FURIOUS CHICKEN.
Sono bastati due round per vincere l'incontro, le cure avversarie non sono bastate contro la potenza delle mie carte, e la nostra MANTOID ha dato il colpo di grazia vincendo la partita.

Non uso spesso questo mostro, come scritto sopra ho preferenze per altre carte ma, quando ci sono le condizioni e soprattutto tanto MANA mi piace schierarlo nelle retrovie.
La sua abilità è ottima contro eventuali mostri con attacco magico e il suo attacco di tre fa male quando va a segno.
