My End of Season Rental Strategy

From Gold I to Champion III + PeakMonsters Rentals Section

The current Splinterlands season is number 53 and will end in 1 day and 16 hours.

image.png

It's not like any other season because it's the first season in which the new in-game card rental system of Splinterlands was introduced.

Today I wanted to share the end-of-season strategy I chose to follow to reach my season goal.

My end of season goal

The minimum goal I set for myself this season is the same as previous seasons: to at least reach the Champion III league.

In the previous season I didn't reach my goal at the end of the season and I stopped in the Diamond I league at less than 80 rating points from the Champion III league.

I will try again this season finale!

In order to try and reach the Champion III league I must first meet two entry requirements:

  • a power score of 500000 points.
The Power score is the total value of the cards that can be used in battle (owned cards + borrowed cards) converted to DEC.
  • a Rating score of 3700 points.

image.png

My starting point

I do not meet either of the Champion III league entry requirements because:

  • I have a rating of 2767 points and I am in the Gold I league.
  • I have a power score of just over 270000 points.

Rating score is obtained by winning battles and increases quickly when you win with an opponent who has a higher rating score.

The power score is the most difficult requirement to meet because it can be increased in only two ways:

  • purchase of Splinterlands cards
  • renting Splinterlands cards

It's been several seasons now that I rent between 30 and 40 cards during the last two days of the Splinterlands season.
Renting cards is by far the cheapest way to temporarily increase Power score and is also a major part of my end-of-season strategy.

My rental strategy

Prior to the arrival of the new rental system, I always used the Peakmonsters website (https://peakmonsters.com/) and my rental strategy was to only choose cards that had the Termination escrow equal to 0 (no penalty in case of early termination of the rental contract).

With the new system, there is no more Termination Escrow and therefore my rental strategy has one less rule to abide by.

The rules I have imposed on myself for my rental strategy are as follows:

  • total rental cost must not exceed $2.2
  • I only rent cards that are useful in battle, and in particular I try to rent top level legendary cards (I exclude cards that have a high conversion value into DEC tokens but that I would never or almost never use in battle).

Splinterlands site or Peakmonsters site?

The Peakmonsters site quickly adapted to the new rental system and in fact there is a new section at https://peakmonsters.com/ called Rentals.

image.png

In the Rentals section the cards are ordered by name (alphabetical order).

image.png

In the Rental Options column there is a blue button with the indication of the number of cards available for rental.

image.png

If you click on the blue button you will see the list of cards available for rent, ordered by level and daily cost.

image.png

To make the rental you have to click on the button with the cart symbol image.png and then you have to click on the other cart symbol located in the upper right corner next to the profile picture.

image.png

A small window will open in which you must choose whether to pay with credits or with DEC tokens.

image.png

It's really very simple.

My choice: Peakmonsters

I have chosen to use the Peakmonsters site for my rental activity because there are many more filters than on the Splinterlands site that make the whole rental activity much faster and more immediate with the advantage of saving a lot of time.

image.png

The cards I rented

Each season finale is different from the last because the card rental market is a dynamic one and I can't always rent all the cards I'd like to rent and especially at the cost I'd like.
There are some really useful cards in battle that are rightly priced high but there are many cards that have disproportionate rental prices and it's really hard to find a motivation to hit the image.png button.

This season I rented 5 summoner type cards:

  • Alrich Stormbringher, Level 7
  • Lyanna Natura, Level 7
  • Owster Rotwell, Level 8
  • Delwin Dragonscale, Level 10
  • Kretch Tallevor

image.png

Along with my level 6 Daria Dragonscale summoner will be the summoners I will be looking to use the most in this final part of the Splinterlands season.

I have also rented 6 legendary monster type cards:

  • Magnor, Level 2
  • Frost Giant, Level 4
  • Kron the Undying, Level 4
  • The Vigilator, Level 4
  • Gloridax Guardian, Level 4
  • Lord Arianthus, Level 3

image.png

In the following two images you can see the other 24 monster type cards I rented.

image.png

image.png

I rented a total of 35 cards that have a total daily cost of 809.7 DEC tokens.
I will hold the cards for two days and the final total cost I incur will be 1619.412 DEC tokens.

Today July 13 1619.41 DEC tokens are worth 5.18 HIVE whose dollar value is $1.93.

image.png

I spent $1.93 to increase my power score by 261000 points.

image.png

The first requirement for access to Splinterlands Champion III league is no longer a problem but now I have to meet the second requirement and exceed the rating score of 3700 points.

Why I chose to follow this strategy

I chose to follow this strategy which is based on card rental because the current value of cards is really very high and opening more chests is much more profitable than in the past.
If I stay in my current league, the Gold I league, I will receive 30 chests as end of season reward.
If I arrive in the Champion III league, I will receive 80 chests and therefore I will receive 50 more chests.
Each chest can contain three types of rewards: an amount of DEC tokens, a card or a potion.
In the middle case I should find 16 cards in 50 chests.
In addition, in my attempt to climb the Champion league I will also earn a good number of DEC tokens (2000-3000) whose value will exceed the total cost of the cards I rented.

I did not use all the budget I had set and if I have difficulty reaching the Champion III league I will consider renting more cards during the last day before the end of the season.

Will I be able to reach my end-of-season goal?

If you like, follow me to find out if my end-of-season strategy choice will produce the effects I hoped for or if it will prove to be completely wrong!

What strategy have you chosen to follow for the end of the current season of Splinterlands?
Tell me in a comment below this post and I'll read your comment with great pleasure.

I hope you liked this post and thank you for reading and taking the time to read it :)

Splinterlands is a beautiful game and it has proved to be a very good investment (at least until now) and if you participate regularly to the weekly contests organized by the @splinterlands account you will recover the registration cost (10$) in few weeks.

If you decide to register, you can do it from this link:

Of course if you'd like to use my refferal link.... :)

Any game that allows the purchase of cards and tokens is never a simple game but is also an investment and should be considered as such.
I am not a financial advisor and if you decide to invest in the game of Splinterlands you do it for your own choice and at your own risk.

See you on the battlefields of Splinterlands.

image.png

E' davvero tutto molto semplice.

  • Magnor, Level 2
  • Frost Giant, Level 4
  • Kron the Undying, Level 4
  • The Vigilator, Level 4
  • Gloridax Guardian, Level 4
  • Lord Arianthus, Level 3

image.png

https://splinterlands.com?ref=libertycrypto27

The current Splinterlands season is number 53

I thought it was season 66. 😂

Renting cards is amazing value if you have the skills to take advantage of it.

Good luck with your push to Champ. I'll be interested to hear if you make it. 😊

Hi @glillianpearce

I thought it was season 66

I've seen that the Splinterstats tool shows the season just ended as the 53 and I've deduced that even if Splinterlands is there since before maybe the mechanism of the seasons started after...or maybe I've made a wrong deduction.
I wrote a comment to the creator of the tool to solve this doubt and I thank you for creating it ;)

Have a nice day

Nice card choice, if it is not much difference in rental, I will prefer Camila sunglazer instead of Ketch talleover
